Stayin' Spooky

I think I blinked and I missed everything that has been going on lately... HOW CAN IT ALREADY BE THE MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER?! We're 15 days into a 30 day month and that means we're half way through, Christmas is just around the corner and it will soon be 2026 - my 40th year?! I cannot believe how fast things are going... I still wanna be spooky?! What the heck?!

I am still living in a bit of a dark space in my mind right now, so staying spooky seems far much more of a fun way to share these feelings than letting people see the true levels of the down flow I am in... I have a lot of problem and stress happening in my RL right now, SL seems to be a place I am hiding away and since I don't even seem to be social in SL at the moment things are a pretty peaceful place... We will see how things go, maybe I'll have to make some major life changes and start trying to be more proactive, but I have about 6 weeks left of 2025 to figure that out... For now though I'm staying spooky until Christmas decides to let me feel festive!!

The Adventures of a Sky Pirate

For the last few days, the hubby and I have been re-watching the Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a bloody good series, with lots of moments of humour, romance and general silliness that I'd kind of forgotten about. Since there are 5 now things seem to blur into each other and I will admit I was wondering where each of the movies fitted together... What can I say? I LOVE them, I love Jack Sparrow and will say he's got to be one of my favourite movie characters of all time... I guess that it has influenced me... 

I think the Caribbean would be way too hot for me but I could be the kind of pirate in some fantasy steam-punkish novel... One in search of treasure or adventure or something that could be entertaining to pass the time... I'd have to be a bit of a fancy dressed up pirate, modern yet stylish and armed with some pretty weapons...

A Darker Side to the Easter Bunny

I've been off work sick for the past two days... It seems like there is a dreaded lurgy going around, as everyone in my work team has been hit, just in time for the high season in a striking resemblence to the events of 5 years ago when COVID initially happened... Tomorrow I am planning to try and go back, we NEED people even though I'm still not really well enough... Today I'm having to try and do things as normal, so that means it's time to try and work on a little something for my blog... I'm not in the best mood, so something dark it is... 
Have you ever wondered where Easter Eggs come from?! 

Today we're on a pathway to find out, and I'll warn you now, it's not all chocolate, cute animals and pastel colours... There's a darker side of Easter, there's a monstrous establishment where the chickens are forced to lay the brightly coloured eggs that decorate tables and homes for the festive season... They once they have been laid they are taken to another location where the gnomes fill them with chocolate... All under the watchful eye of the Easter Bunny and his minions. Not all of the minion bunnies are the cute cuddly kind, there are the darker, twisted overseers are just that, dark and twisted, controlling and a little evil... Yet they run a tight ship, but they look SO feisty, fabulous as they do it...

Sunshine To Defrost In!

Last night I broke free and today I had a wonderful day off... The sun was shining all day and I found myself wanting to curl up in a sunny spot and read a book... I wasn't able to do that, since I have been working so much I had to catch up on the housework... Any moment I had spare, I found myself resting in any sunny spot I came across, I was taking my time to defrost...

I am NOT a Summer girl, I HATE it when it's too hot but the Spring sunshine always feels like it's revitalising. It makes you warm but doesn't feel like it hurts, it gives you energy and happiness and is the perfect dose of vitamin D. Spring is also the time of the flowers, and there are so many wonderful colours and smells and happy moments that go aong with them... 
It's the perfect time to drop my jacket and let the sun warm my skin... A perfect time to defrost...

Fresh Out, So I'm Off!

That's it, it's officially Wednesday in my neck of the woods and that means only ONE THING this week... TODAY IS THE DAY I SAY BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... Today is the day that I am officially checking out of my adulting life because today is the day that I am going back to my parents for the week. I will be the only one there too, which means I get undivided attention - ask me later if that's still something I am happy about - but I guess one last post to you now can't and won't hurt... 

So I woke myself up WAY TOO EARLY, I dunno if it was excitement or stress induced but hey, it gave me an extra few hours to be able to sit down with a coffee and write to you about my immanent departure... I've checked and double checked that I have everything, and HellBone won't allow me to take the cat because he needs someone to look after him so I THINK I'm ready to go...  
SO I won't be around until the 22nd - although you know me I'll be lurking somewhere in the background and MAY even have a post prepared, though don't get your hopes up too much at this point - but don't miss me too much... I will be back!!!

Meeting the Residents

I've had a particularly difficult day, I feel like sometimes customers are lovely and others they treat you like you're way below them and you aren't very important at all... If I could get away with it, I'd want to say "Excuse me, if you don't talk to me like I'm a normal human being then I'm done feeding you cheese"... Please remember that people working in retail, are people too... 
I came home from work today and had to stop off to get myself something for dinner... I had convinced myself I wanted something healthy... That turned into a pack of cheesy bullcrap... 

That didn't happen, Hell wanted a take-away and a curry was what he had in mind... Not that I was complaining, although Rudh had picked up healthy things in her Groceries bag, and even stopped to pet the neighbours dogs as she waited by the elevators...

A Pack of Tired

It's hard to believe that it is now July... WHERE HAS THE YEAR GONE ALREADY?! We've entered what we call the slippery slope to Christmas, the day after my Sister's Birthday has ALWAYS been the start of that... 
I don't really know how to feel about things, I'm worn out and cannot wait till I get to go home to the UK in August, but first I have to get through July and the time that my boss will be away and I have to take the lead... I'm already tired, how will I get through this... 

I'm doing everything that I can to help keep myself on track... I'm going through the motions... Working, cooking, laundry and keeping up with the chores I have to do. One thing that I do miss is being able to switch off and take my dog for a long walk... I miss her at moments when I don't expect it, and it seems to happen more when I'm tired and feeling drained... I feel like I keep seeing the ghost of my girl walking through the house. 
I needed to take my mind off it, and although I'm not ready to get a new dog in RL, I AM more than willing to adopt a pack's worth in SL... Today as I was out on an adventure, I met and brought home an adorable pack of Jack Russells - from Jian, who happens to be an exciting new sponsor for me YAY! 
As if I wasn't tired enough, now I have a pack of boystrous little scamps to look after... I'll be ok though, one day at a time whilst I remain pretty, scary and tired!

Bears in the Woods

If you go down to the woods today, you'd better remember to pack everything that you need for a little woodland visit... The woods seem like a cooler place, not as cool as the beach might be but hiding beneath the trees is far better than being out in the sunshine or stuck at work. Apparently the weather is changing here tomorrow but for tonight it's yucky... I'm going to sleep outside and avoid the mosquitoes instead of the heat... 

I packed for a fun trip in the woods. I had absolutely everything needed for my trip... Bug Spray, Books and plenty of snacks, everything needed for the perfect Summer Camp - a set from Junk Food - at the Summer Carnival... 
There was just ONE thing that I forgot, and it was something that I REALLY needed... I forgot my teddy bear, and I cant sleep without him... I had to find a way to replace him. It's Saturday... It's my own day off this weekend and I've spent some time having fun with HellBone, doing a little shopping at my favourite second-hand stores, even being lucky enough to find some treasures that made me happy... 
Saturday is my day for relaxing, having fun and maybe even letting my hair down and doing something daring...

A Quiet Place to Read

Halloween has come and gone, and there are so many things that I feel like I've missed during the spooky months. I've barely done anything to explore the Halloween stuff in SL as when I've been able to be around I'm trying to get myself into costumes and taking lots of pictures... 
Now that all the festivities are behind me, I'm going to try and find myself somewhere calm and quiet for me to curl up and read... Now that the ghoulies are locked away back in their crypt beds to rest off their Halloween Party hangovers... The quietest places would have to be in those peaceful, old, graveyards... 

The Black Philip - a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - cemetery, located on the shores of Black Philip Lake where the people don't tend to roam seems like the perfect place to read a good book... I'll hide among the cemetery graves and tombs - which can be found as a past group gift from DRD, for the grave stones, and Violetility as the Cemetery set with other structures - for a few moments peaces...

Protect the Pumpkin Patch

There comes a time in every monster's Halloween preparations when they have to head to the most important of places to find themselves a big ol' pumpkin... It's the most important of all Halloween decorations, something that is carved, painted, decorated and then filled with a lit flame to scare off the evil spirits... I've never been that great at carving them, my sister makes brilliant designs mine end up only looking scary after a week when they've begun to rot LOL... Still there comes a time in October when it is very important to get yourself the right one... The best place to find them ALWAYS happens to be in a garden, and there's one person that the monsters turn to for the best pumpkins... 

This little scarecrow lives in one of those mysterious Cabin in the Woods - a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - and has a perfect little spot for the growing of pumpkins... There is a LITTLE bit of a problem however, and that would be that even though she's a scarecrow she cannot keep the Caw-niving Crows - from Aardvark as a prize in the MadPea's Masquerade of Murder until November 2nd - and she's had to resort to planting some other things amongst the pumpkin plants... They are Cute Monster Plants - from Boutique #187 until October 22nd at Planet29 - don't smell all that pretty, and although they have a rather gorgeous set of petals, it's the HUGE teeth the birdies have to look out for...

Madamoiselle and her Puppies

That's it... September is done and dusted and that means only ONE thing... Tonight is October Eve, tomorrow is the official start of the spooky season and whilst I might not be able to do much about Halloween in RL, I m going to live it up as MUCH as possible in Second Life. Like every year, I plan on diving into the costume box, and aiming to try to complete a new look for every day of the month... Normal clothes will be taking a backseat, starting tomorrow it's time to get monstrous... 

So for probably the last time that I'll be looking human and normal for a while I'm just making sure I get myself through all of the chores that I have to do before I start playing dress up... 
One of those last ones, as the sun is setting and the last thing I have to do is take the dogs out like the Madamoiselle I am - thanks to a pose from Fashiowl. We've wandered our way to the West Post garage - a backdrop from Paleto - on the outskirts of town, and since we've wandered a little bit too far, we're waiting for the cavalry to come and pick us up to take us home... Melon in the Pool

In our neighbourhood there has been a lot of change lately, they are rebuilding some of the houses and have moved people in short term so that there is no squatter action in the empty houses, but that has brought with it random problems... When it all started I was stuck in bed after an operation last year I found myself becoming a little bit of a nosey neighbour. I'd NEVER imagined myself watching the neighbourhood to see what was going on, but it's like it's own little soap opera out there sometimes, complete with a busybody crazy man and the breakdown of relationships where kids become the ones caught in the middle... 
I'm constantly watching to see what the new people are upto... Who is moving into my neighbourhood?

All of the residents in Brittany Oaks - a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - have been paying attention to the newest arrivals in their slice of homely heaven. The new arrivals are a little lower class than the rest of this upmarket neighbourhood... She sits in her Pickup that's been converted into a pool - thanks to Krescendo - with her yappie little puppies having a pool party and chows down on Watermelon from a tupperwear box - part of a set of Picnic Basket items from Junk Food - which she wears all over her face - thanks to a set from kotte - like lipstick. Camping at the Sea Wall

It's been a VERY long, busy, crazy few days and I am more than able to admit that I'm knackered on the verge of passing into a deep sleep that would make even Sleeping Beauty feel like I'm a deep sleeper... 
I think that once my boss gets back from her vacation, I am going to have to a much needed few days off so that I can spend at least one recharging my batteries. I think that a few days out of town might be nice, maybe camping in the woods, or on the beach perhaps...

I'm going to spend some time on the beach I think, I'll rent myself a little camper to take a few days a the beach. Winner, Winner and a Dolphin Shaped Prize!

The weather has gotten really nice here in the Netherlands. I'm definitely not a Summer kinda girl, I HATE it when it's too hot, but today was warm and sunny, there was a cool breeze in the air and I really wished that I'd been able to be outside on a holiday rather than stuck at work indoors. 
I'd have loved to have been able to go to places I went to as a kid on days like today... We used to visit my nan and grandad at the beach, we'd go to the boardwalk fun fair and play the copper slot machines,we'd eat fish'n'chips and dance as the freezing cold waves tickled our toes... Those were the days, I wish I could go back to them... 

On the Otter Pier - which happens to be a backdrop created by Fashiowl Poses for The Arcade, it's the rare prize in the collection full of amazing poses - of the Ocean City Boardwalk, there are lots of wonderful places to pick up a quick snack at the Hungry Otter, and try my luck at some of the arcade games... Wouldn't you know I was a 'Winner Winner' - thanks to a pose from Extra in a collection at the Summer Carnival - which meant I not only had a fab day at the beach, but I went home with an adorably cute plushie friend too...

Metalheads and Angry Bears

While I was at work this weekend in Amsterdam, I found myself in the midst of a very busy weekend... There are public holidays in many countries, and everyone was enjoying the flowers and the sunshine and the King's Day weekend celebration. Yet there was another major draw into the city, Metallica were playing in the Ajax Arena, two concerts in three days, so the city seemed to be stuffed full of metalheads... I love that I tend to fall into the metalhead style social circles as they tend to be fun, friendly and have the best taste in music... 

I will be a Metalhead Forever, so much so that I'll have it tattooed on my chest for the world to see - thanks to an adorable tattoo from Adora-tions - and I got all dressed up ready for a night on the town. It;s so creepy when I head out though, the Abandoned Corridor - a backdrop from TROPIX - from my apartment to the stairs is so dark and disconcerting... As I slipped out, I heard one of the doors in the corridor click, and an eerie orange light filled the halls... I tried to ignore it and walk away but I felt something creeping up my spine, suddenly someone jumped me, a very Disgruntled Bear - from Tardfish - brandishing a knife attacked and caused me to bleed...

Life Goes On

This week is a crazy one due to RL being full of Easter tourists in the city and me having to work in a tourist based Cheese Shop... 
Things in SL have also been getting to me a little bit too... I don't want to whine or grumble or complain, but recently I have been beginning to wonder what I'm doing wrong with my blogging. I work my butt off and try superhard, but this week there had been a collection of rejections for spots in blogging teams - two of which were straight out No, the other was an addition to a waiting list only to be rejected a little later on... Each little rejection, chipping away at my self-esteem, and a backwards slide into thoughts of "why is that person able to get more likes than me?" It's a feeling that I'd been trying to get over, a feeling that I was succeeding in getting past, but three rejetions in a day feels like a total slam in the gut.... 
I needed a moment step away, take a breath and try to get back on track...  

Out on the rooftop - which is actually a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - I looked perfectly glam, all prepped for a picture that I'd been planning to take, wearing the most adorable of outfits including an item from a store that I'd been rejected by, to take a secret smoke break... 
Looking out at the city lights, noticing how they twinkle against a starryback drop of the night sky, taking a deep breath made me find some perspective. It helped that I was contacted by a friend who made a suggestion that I applied for an Event she was a part of... Within a few hours, there was a boost me trying to increase my positivity with an acceptance and a chance to try something new...
By the end of the day, I felt better... My blog is my therapy, my happy place and my place to express myself. If I get rejections that just means that I am not what the designer is looking for, that doesn't mean I am bad at what I do. There are plenty of people out there, there are plenty of people that LOVE what I do, and that's a part of my therapy process that makes me happiest. I realised thinking about it, Life Goes On and I amhappy to see where it goes and what willcome my way...

Sitting Pretty in the Garage

Sometimes when I get the chance to sit and plan a blog post there is nothing that really springs to mind as to what I want to do... I have so much to do, the Midnight Order event opens today and I have a LOT of amazing new things coming that I can't wait to share, but for today I ran out of time, and I NEEDED to find something that could be quick and fun and show off my amazing sense of style... Instead of something that takes lots and lots of time to set up, I decided on a cute fun photoshoot for a little Look-of-the-Day... 

I am in LOVE with this outfit, it's one of those that I have been wearing on and off for a few days... These Agnes Pants - from AsteroidBox at Equal10 - look PERFECT with the amazing Riku Boots - from Breathe - as the dots on the pants look so close to the Riku Spikes. The rest of the most amazing outfit just all seemed to fit together so perfectly, and when I went to try and find the perfect place to pose, I didn't make it past the Warehouse - a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - where the cars are parked because it just seemed so cool and the perfect backdrop for my Look-of-the-Day...

A little bit of Frosty Love

Christmas may now be over, but the world is still in that festive feeling mode. I know that people are already gagging for the spring season, but the weather is still very much in the wintery way and I will be more than willing to enjoy that. I LOVE the cold weather, I am NOT a huge fan of snow so long as I have to carry on working, if I can be at home then it's the most wonderful thing in the world... 
If I'm able to have fun, to not worry about getting to work, I LOVE the snow... 

I love when the neighbourhood in Winter - like the backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - is sparkling, white with the fresh falling snow. I love when you're able to wrap up snuggly warm and play in the street building snowmen or making snowballs and snowhearts to share a little Frosty Love - a pose set from -Extra- - until your hands go numb...

Last Minute Shopping for those Last Minute Gifts

I have been stuck so deep in RL, it's been crazy since the start of the week, and while working in retail at this time of year can be fun it can also be super crazy busy, and people can be more than a little obnoxious. I never thought I'd be horrible to someone in retail but having experienced it in reality, on the receiving end, it's no wonder that people hate working in retail at this time of year... 
Still, there's only one shopping day left before Christmas, and I have a couple of things that I need to get, so I'll pop out to the shops, trudge through the snow and disappeared into the shops... 

The shops have some of the most wonderful window displays like the pretty little scene declaring "Santa Stop Here" - a sign that I shrunk down to fit in the scene from Krescendo - whilst I warmed up with a delicious cup of fresh Christmas Expresso - from Junk Food - complete with it's adorable little elf hat and handy candy cane to stir it with. 
I was so lost in plans for the holidays and looking into the shop window that I almost missed my friendly Prezzie Bear - from Tardfish until the end of today at Tannenbaum - stumbling around on the sled... I had to jump fast to catch him and the gifts from falling into the snow... Cant risk a little friend like him getting hurt so close to Christmas...
