A Walk in the Snow

Today has been massive amounts of chaos.. I was supposed to be at work, but that changed due to the arrival of the parts that wereneeded to make our new garden shed, and because they were too heavy to lift I COULD NOT help get them into the garden... SO I had to take today off work - luckily they could find cover for my shift - and then be at home while two young men, that really did NOT look od enough to be playing with power tools, were assembling the shed... Luckily HellBone got home, before they left without making sure things were finished or tidied up as they would have disappeared without saying anything and NOW we get to have the fun of contacting the company to get them to come and sort a few things out... FML... The building project has just begun and I cannot wait for it to be finished... 

I HAVE SO MUCH I could have been doing today, I should have been at work and now I'm left feeling shite because they were such cowboy builders... Where are the good guys like in the old days, that did a good job just for the respect that it would earn them... 
I've also had some horrible news regarding my mother and her RL sickness that turned her yellow... I'm not in a good place right now, and so I need to take a walk and get myself somewhere better brainspace wise. Maybe a walk to get me into a somewhat Christmassy Spirit?!

Who let the Cats in?

Being an Assistant manager SUCKS... While my boss is on vacation I've been drafted in to cover her role, and I'm working my butt off... So much so that I'm working ALL WEEKEND this week... I don't want to be working, I want to be doing the fun things like reading, taking pictures in SL or napping... A nap would be fantastic, but there is no rest for the wicked, and apparently I'm wicked... I will find a way to relax, even if I have to lock myself in a dark room and work on my pictures...  

Not sure if being in a dark room - which is a backdrop from blaink by the way - when all I want to do is nap, but maybe the smell of the chemicals will help me stay awake... OR Maybe they will knock me out?! I will have to make sure that I put my cameras down before I fall down and snooze... I've always got a camera with me in RL - something like the ones from Synnergy.Tavis which are a posed holdable - but never have I ever been in a dark room... 
I was enjoying myself and minding my own business, but my stomach was starting to grumble a little bit and as if by magic, HellBone appeared with a snack... Hoding the snack in his hand, as he opened the door, I didn't manage to get the "NOOOOOO" out before my cats all dashed into the room and started causing chaos... They don't even take time to Paws and Reflect - which is the gacha collection from Aardvark in which you can find all these kitties... Chaos ensues...

Art imitates Life...

Spring is sprung, the grass is rizz, I wonder where the birdies is... A cute little poetic saying that my mum always used to say to me around this time of year when we reached the month of March and the world around us seemed to start gearing up for the Spring season. BEFORE ANYONE COMES AT ME, I know it's a no longer the way that the kids are using the word rizz but it's not the new use of the word I'm using here LOL... 

I am definitely an Autumn kinda girl. but if I had to pick another season I'd be saying I love Spring... I LOVE the colours and the vibrancy, I love the early Spring sun that's wraming on the skin but not full of burning Summer heat, I love the fact that March is one of the best month's of the year because it won't be long now until it's my BIRTHDAY!!!! Yes, I AM the Birthday princess this month... 
One of the things that I used to loved doing the most when I was younger was watching the nature as it carried on it's normal life... I used to be a bug lover, collecting them to observe and care for in our family garden. I always seemed to find them easier to keep alive in their little bug homes - like the Ladybug Habitat from Junk Food - than the adorably weird bug-like things in those uber trendy electronic pets that were the Tamagotchis - like the Gochi Mirrors from Krescendo... 
I also had the hobby of collecting stones from the beach when visiting my grandparents, to take home and paint into cute little bugs and other such patterns... I might have to start doing that again soon, it could be fun for the summer perhaps?!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

There are two sides of my mind right now... One says, "WOW 2024 has been a damn long year with lots of ups and downs and boy I'm glad it's over", the other says "Pfft where the heck did 2024 go and has Christmas come and gone already?"... There's a bigger part of me that's wondering how in the heck the Millennium was 25 years ago, and the fact that we're starting 2025 with a WTF week doesn't bode well... Last time we had a WTF week, we had the Corona outbreak... I know we don't need another one of those, but I will say it might be nice to be forced to stay at home for a while LOL... Now it's time to close our eyes and make a wish... 

Normally I wouldn't be sending my New year wishes and thoughts for prosperity so early. We stil have a few days of 2024 to go before we slip into the new year, but I won't be around and won't have access to the PC from tomorrow. HellBone and I are disappearing to the wilds of Wales, on a family visit with my parents and my sister in her new home... It's something I've been looking forward to for a long time, and no matter that it's not going to be a restful trip it will be a change, and a change is as good as anything... 
For now, I'll enjoy the sparkles, send out many wishes and much love and say Happy New Year everyone. May your evening and start of the new year be good to you, sending you hugs and hope you'll be here to see meand my rambling antics again when I'm back for some fun new adventures...

The Day Before It Begins...

Well it's finally here, the eve of the Festive Season is upon us... Tomorrow is December 1st. The first day of Advent - which this year I am really really excited for since HellBone spoilt me with my main Christmas present being a BOOK ADVENT CALENDAR... There is so much to do, what with decorating for the festivities, buying and wrapping gifts, prepping all the delicious Christmas grub and just generally getting into the spirit... 

A few days ago I'd been out in the woods collecting foliage for my decorations and so today on the last day of November I'm getting decor prepared. I've set up a little tree and pulled out the baubles, cut at the cards into Jolly Trees - from Spruce - and then pulled over the Early Winter decor crate - that I have from Pitaya - so that I could try out that tutorial I'd seen online... It looked easy enough but even I was pretty impressed with how cute my Christmas Gnome Wreath- from Simply Shelby - turned out!

A Little Green Magic!

What is a girl to do with herself when that vacation feeling hits... Some people like to travel, others like to do crafts, I personally love to get lost in a good book more than usual, but there are others that LOVE to garden... I'm never going to be a good gardener, I've not got greenfingers or thumbs and even though it seems to be something all my family are good at, I'm not even able to keep a cactus alive... 
I'll stick to gardening in Second Life, it seems a little easier and if my fingers and thumbs don't work then there is penty of magic to aid my desire to grow... 

I will say though that even in Second Life I have problems when I'm growing things... HellBone is in charge of our beautiful garden and although I pretend the vegetable plot is mine, we all know he's the one in charge of it. When I attempt to grow things, using a little magical touch to get things to sprout, there is always an issue or two.. Carnivorous plants, bulbous plants, plants that inspire magic and even the Honey Bees are a little bit Bunny-like - but they are such a gorgeous cute little pair from YOKAI at Collabor88 - can be found in the Greenhouse - a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis...

Chips and Guac

It's May 5th...Cinco de Mayo... In the past I've mentioned I wanted to look more at other cultures holidays, and I did pay some attention to Chinese New Year, and I have in the past looked at Dia de los Muertos, but you hear the term Cinco de Mayo and I've never known what it is...This year I'm going to have a little look into the special day for the Mexicans, and I'll do that with some nachos and guac... 

So what is Cinco de Mayo... Originally a day to remember the victory in battle, Cinco de Mayo is now considered more of a celebration of Mexican culture... 
Knowing very little about Mexican culture other than what I've seen online I feel a little like I could cause offence by talking about tacos and sombreros and pinatas, and I mean no offence. I LOVE Mexican Food, althouh I guess you should more realistically say Tex-Mex foods... I love a good burrito, and nachos, and quesadilla, I'm not a HUGE fan of guacamole, but that's only because I think avocados taste like snot... However, I cannot resist the urge to fill a Nacho Dip Hat - from Junk Food - a sombrero that is perfectly formed to make a bowl for dip! It even provides extra chips for when the bag is empty...

Dreamwisps and Glass Magic

What do I do when I'm having a bad day, it's my day off and my PC decides that it wants to be a total and utter shit... I had to try and use Hell's PC but that thing is a crazy beast and I was confused and struggling and hope that the picture looks somewhere decent... 
What do I do when I'm trying to get my head into taking a picture, I go for something fairytale and fantastical and magical... 
Fae folk come in all different shapes and themes, today we're looking at the steampunkish glass fae... 

This pretty little cut glass fae lives in a world of crystal sparkly glass, powered by steam that lights the world and brings life to her flowers and magical pets... 
Her magic and sparkles are powered by the waters of the Dreamwisp Fountain - a gorgeous creation from everfaery - which gives her the ability to grow some of the most amazing plants in her rainbow glass greehouse... Her best grow has to be her pet Purr Plant - from Aardvark - that came to life and became her faithful leafy companion... She feeds him on a diet of Enchanted Fantasy Mushrooms - from Simply Shelby for this year's Fantasy Fair - and he exercises chasing the Butterfly Lightbulbs - from ANTAYA at the Engine Room until April 20th...

Questing Souvenirs

The picture that I came up with in my mind today seemed to come from nowhere but somewhere buried deep in the hidden recesses of my mind... It was based around the thoughts of when you get a reward after setting a goal and completing it, which is something that I have been trying to do more of this year. 
I think in the back of my brain, I associated it with some kind of fantasy quest that a knight might have been sent on by a king with a problem... Maybe an ogre problem, maybe a witch problem... Ooooh Maybe a Dragon Problem... 

I've loved films and books and even the odd game like this, I remember having a bit of a addiction to the original Baldur's Gate games when they first came out... I have always loved knights and dragons and the medieval aesthetic. 
I keep having this weird almost Dad joke running through my mind as I was setting up my epic blogpost today. I kept thinking "If you have enjoyed your dragon slaying quest today, please don't forget to stop at the souvenir kiosk on your way over the drawbridge"... I chuckle but the She Merc - an outfit from Pucca Firecaster Creations at the Engine Room - in me, did make a pitstop at the kiosk, loading my Alchemist Pack - from Static, also at Engine Room - with books and dragon plushies but did I REALLY need that special looking Eyes of Eldritch Grimoire - from Aardvark at the Wizarding Faire - it's a must for every wizard but that would mean taking up a totally new profession?!

The Diva in the Stars

The Engine Room has opened it's doors for a Spring visit, the sparkles of all new wonderful things come rushing out so that they light up the sky and provide a guiding light for the visitors seeking steampunk treasures to decorate their homes and bodies...

Balloons to Dreamland

I'm very very very tired at the moment, I don't know what is causing it. I don't feel ill or anything, just totally worn down and like I could sleep for a long time, it's not positive as we're heading into the high season at work and it'only going to get busier! It's not like I'm sleeping badly, I have a new bed and am loving it... I really don't know what it is... 
I need to find a way to slip off to dreamland, I need some magic that will help me sleep... I wonder what the quickest way to get there... 

I have heard that the best transport into Dreamland, is through the clouds in a hot air balloon so that you can slip away to "Dream your Dream" - a backdrop from K&S - the guardian unicorns - from Sakura - will assist and guide you in the balloons to the dreams made just for you... 
Just make sure that you've got your jammies on, and you have your pillow with you to make the most out of the wonderful dreams...

Stop and Smell the Roses

It's that time of year again, another seasonal holiday that gets everyone in Second Life excited. All the shopping events are filled with it, there are parties and concerts to celebrate and dates are planned for this seasonal holiday, I'm talking of course about Valentines Day... 
It's not a holiday that I get really crazy into like Halloween or Christmas, but when you can't avoid it, it's better to join in the fun... So folks, it's time for me to do something a little cutesy, filled with pink and more than a few hearts and flowers... 

I decided to take a walk in the gardens where the Valentine's trees - from tarte - are beginning to share their valentine's colours. The roses in the gardens are beginning to smell sweet, so I picked a few slipping them into a paper bag - from Tentacio - to take home and decorate, filling the house with bright pink. Stopping for a Valentine's Refresher of pink lemonade - also from tarte - enjoying the warm evening sunshine and smelling the roses, perhaps Valentine's will be sweet this year...

The "What's For Dinner" Game

It's that time of day again... The time of day when HellBone and I have to play the game of "what do you want for dinner?" This game can go on for HOURS, sometimes it starts in the morning when we're planning on things for the day ahead, but mostly though it starts around 4PM. 
The problem is that we're both FAR too relaxed and are usually happy to eat ANYTHING that is put in front of us, with the exception of mushrooms and celery for me and olives for him... 
I've often wished there was a magic way to make it easier, pulling the choice out of a hat or like lottery balls or something... Perhaps a spinning wheel like on a cheesy gameshow... 

Luckily thanks to Second Life I was able to make that dream come true... Krescendo had made a collection of Food Wheels with selections like takeout, snacks and even healthy options - a release that's available until January 21st at the Food Court - and since I've had a long hard day at school today, I think we'll be making use of the Takeout Wheel... 
So many yummy options, I could happily settle for all of the deliciousness... We cooked noodles yesterday, haven't had Sushi since HellBone got sick and he blames the sushi, don't have a great taco place around here and I'm not even sure I'd know a good one in the Netherlands, BUT I could happily eat anything on offer right now... Even looking at the set up of the "What's for Dinner?" game show is making me hungry...

Snowflake Magic

Why is it that snow always feels so magical? It's like the swirling, sparkles of magic that slowly drift away after the magic has been cast... It always seems to make me think of fairies, of fairytale magic and of those stories that cause the imagination to run riot... That's why, snow seems to pull out the inner fairy in  me... 

The Snow Fae that seems to be luring my mind into her dark little dance, to watch whilst she creates the most intricate little sparkles... 
She may be dancing in the snow, but she wears no clothing causing frost bite to rip through her extremeties... All while things get a little Frosty... The snowflakes and ice sparkle in the moonlight, and hopefully the magic will last a little longer...

Love and Hugs for Christmas

It's Christmas Eve-Eve... It's also the last time that I'm likely to be able to blog for the last few days as if I'm not working then I have Christmas stuff to get through. The monster-in-law is coming to spend the day, I will be cooking a HUGE turkey that we will spend the next few days devouring. I've spent the day wrapping and cleaning and making sure that my fur babies are behaving. I even had a few hours to finish decorating the home that I share with HellBone in SL... 

Would you believe it that I also was able to find the time to get myself all festively dressed up and snap a quick pic to give people a little hint at our homely mess... For Christmas this year rather than curling up in my Pyjamas to wait for Santa, this year I'm going to dress as an adorable little deer and dance with the reindeer in the snow... 
For now though I'd like to takea moment to send love and hugs to everyone for the festive holidays this year. If you are celebrating Christmas or not, if you are forced to be with people that bug you or with the ones that you love, or even hiding away on your own with a cup of tea and a good book, have yourself a very merry everything and a very happy always!!!

Festive Costume for the Ents

It's getting closer and closer, the big day is looming, a day that we've been working towards for weeks if not months. Christmas is coming. People everywhere are getting festive and it's definitley beginning to look a lot like Christmas... 
People seem to often enjoy dressing up all festive, be that in gorgeous outfits or in ugly Christmas sweaters, and it's not just the people that are involved... Fantasy beings are also getting into the Christmas Spirit... The Ents may even be in your home, masquerading as Christmas Trees... 

The Ents - in this case are an avatar collection from Forest Fantasy Store - are the tree folk, residents of Middle Earth that are protectors of the Fangorn Forest... BUT they don't often get to participate in the Christmas festivites.UNTIL NOW... 
A plan was hatched that meant they could come down out of the snowy woods and slip into the festivities in a very prominent but unknown way... Have you checked your Christmas Tree? Do the lights always hang the same? Have the Baubles twisted? Perhaps there is an Ent watching the festivities up close... Gifts Under the Christmas Tree

I have so much still to do, one of the biggest tasks that I stillhave to get done is the gift wrapping. I hate doing wrapping. I get gift wrap envy seeing people on social media that make perfect, beautiful gift wrappings. Mine always end up looking like they have been in a fight with a cellotape machine. 
There are lots of things to wrap and lots of things to package away, I have gifts for Mum and Dad, gifts for my sister and hubby, and plenty of gifts for the furbabies... The most important one of all, a special gift for Daddy... 

There is only ONE gift that should be the perfect present for a Daddy, and that is his favourite play thing, a babygirl in ribbons that keep her from escaping and some lights to make her glitter in the giftbox she's been all wrapped up - a gift box prop and pose from -Extra- - in under the Christmas tree... 
I hope that Daddy likes his gift, I bet he won't be able to wait until he can Unwrap Me - a gorgeous set from Lyrium - and I'm pretty sure the will love the ribbons just as much as the gift they are wrapping...

Ghost of Christmas Past

This post today sees me feeling a little more festive. The hubby and I finally Christmassed our house and I have got sparkles everywhere. We have so many lights on our tree, that I've even been joking that the lights could be seen from space LOL... 
I'm slowly getting into the festivities, and one of the things that make me most festive are the old Christmas stories, stories like the Night Before Christmas and A Christmas Carol... Today I've been thinking about the ghosts of Christmas, the ghost of Christmas past coming into the forefront of my mind right now... 

Sometimes if I let myself dwell on it, I find myself getting a little melancholy as my mind drifts back... I remember the last few year with my Nan, the first time I spent Christmas in the Netherlands rather than at home with Mum and Dad, and even silly things like childhood Christmasses that have been long gone. There have been many good memories too, childhood memories of gifts and walks and storytimes before bed. My sister and I waking up at the crack of dawn because Santa had been... My dad complaining there would be no more 'plastic' Christmasses year after year... Years later my sister and I getting a little tiddly and realizing we had to substitute carrots with broccoli for Santa's reindeer... Even writing this these memories make me smile... 
So today, I'm revelling in the companionship of the host of Christmas Past...

Oopsie Daisie...

I went out to an appointment today, had to go to my monthly fat fighters class, and whilst we were out HellBone and I made a few stops to buy some Christmas gifts... When I got home, I made a rather shocking discovery... The postman had been, and perhaps I MAY have purchased too many things to gift to people... The doormat was buried under a mountain of boxes... 

Managed to persuade HellBone not to kill me as I told him it was Christmas presents. What I didn't really admit was that some of these were presents for the Cleaner, the Chef, the Dog Walker and the Washer Woman... All of which happen to be me!
I quickly had to move all of the delivery packages - which were sent over by Junk Food - out of his eyeline before he started opening things and discovering all the treats were for me...

Skelly Chaos at the Spooky Spa

Sunday Night has always been a bath night in this house, and in the house since I was a little kid, because Monday morning was a school day and we had to be fresh and clean for school, I guess the habit has stuck with me all these years. I used to love taking long baths when I was a kid, but switched to long hot showers as I got older. I think that I started thinking more about soaking in the dirty water and decided to splish splash in the rain-like shower instead. 
This week though I am working on Sunday, and so I have to wait until Monday for my long showering pampering regime... In SL though, Rudh will be without me so she's booked herself into a little Witchy Spa for relaxation and peace... 

This spa is located within the old Royal Hall - a backdrop from FOXCITY - and the witchy sisters that run the place have set it up for pure luxury... They've turned huge old cauldrons into amazing Hexxed Hot Tubs - from Krescendo at FaMESHed - and decorated the private space with a lucious Ouija rug - also from Krescendo but at Kinky for just a couple more days - and a table with the set up needed to make the perfect cup of tea, including a set of Witchy Clutter - that's also from Krescendo at MadPea's Masquerade of Murder- and the coolest set of Crime Scene Tumblers - from Boutique #187 that you can hunt for at this year's SPOOKZILLA - as well as the most adorable of signs to show customers where they can get their fresh sheets, sorry I mean towels - a sign in a collection of hunt items from Junk Food for Spookzilla... 
They have promised me lots of peace and quiet, restful time to myself with a good book. Yet when I was taking a selfie to post on Facebook, I noticed that I wasn't alone... There were some adorable little Skeleton Animals - from Yokai - causing chaos, one reading through my book and two more splashing about in the hot tub... Looks like the peace and quiet won't be so peaceful...
