Tulip Season!

The sun has been shinging so much lately and it really feels like feels like the Spring has finally sprung  around here. I love all of the flowers that seem to be popping up, and brightening up the world and I SERIOUSLY think there are so many peopleout there that need to stop and smell the flowers. The world is a scary place right now, and things are chaos and it's more than a little scary. We all need to stop and smell the flowers... 

One of the best places to get themselves a lovely place to stop and smell the flowers is very close to where I am currently living... The area surrounding the farm I'm staying on is surrounded by row upon row of tulip fields apparently. I'm waiting to see all the colours pop, everything looks a little too green at the moment... 
I'm going to wait until it's just right and then head out into the fields to get myself one of those instagram pinterest style aesthetic photos... 
If I can't in RL then I may well just do it in Second Life... I have the perfect outfit all ready, a cute little Posy Set - from miss chelsea, available until March 30th at Anthem - and I'm ready to stop and smell the flowers, making sure that I have some to take home...

Chinese New Year

It feels like a lot is happening all at once in a Spiritual sense at the moment... There are so many different religious and cultural things going on in the world at the same time right now and it feels kinda different that everyone is celebrating something spiritual all at once. It would be nice if it would unite the world a little more, bring us all together since we're all a little closer to our spirituality right now but I doubt very much that will be the case since we all feel so broken... 

Now I know that I am NOT a religious person. I definitely believe in spiritual things, I am always going to believe in fairies and magic, and I LOVE all of the stories from different religions that are uplifting and full of meaning, and I REALLY hope I'm not going to cause offence but I don't like to think anyone's beliefs are more important than anyone elses... I love that we can all be different and believe what we choose, so long as it doesn't harm anyone - yes I KNOW that Wars are constantly, even now, being fought over religious reasons - but it would be such a boring world to live in, if EVERYONE thought the same, believed in the same, dressed the same or acted in the same way... That's my 10cents anyway...
I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I wanted to look a little at some of the current spirituality taking place that I know little about... Besides things I learnt at school there is SO MUCH TO KNOW about two big things taking place right now... Today I will be looking a little at the Chinese Lunar New Year.
So, for us that are not in the know, what is Chinese New Year?
Well apparently it's the most important Chinese Holiday, covering 15 days to celebrate the start of the Lunar New Year, and this year it started on February 17th - yes I KNOW I'm two days late, but I'm moving houses at the moment, give me some slack lol... The reason for the celebration is that it's a start of change, it celebrates family - often honouring ancestors - saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the new fortune for the new year. The whole celebration will culminate 15 days after it starts - so that's March 3rd - with the Lantern Festival!
Another interesting thing that I've often seen but never really thought much of, is that the Chinese Zodiac characters are animal based. Now there is a LOT of information about this, and I could basically write a whole other blog post for it, but this year is the year of the Horse - apparently as I was born in 1986 I am from the year of the Fire Tiger! 
Anyway, thank you for listening to me ramble and learn something new as I went along, I actually really enjoyed looking into something I knew little about and putting together a post for it. I think I will try it more often, and don't worry as always there will be something pretty to look at with a list of what I've got in the picture too... Just accept my ramblings LOL you know you want to...

Today is Cleaning Day!

It's been a day of cleaning and sorting for me today... Still so much to do before we have to move out of our house for 6 months. I'm stressing, and I'm wondering HOW we wil ever get things done... It's not just the packing and sorting, it's also the bloody basic chores that we have to do on a normal daily basis... It's just getting to be too much... I had to find a way to get through the drudgery...

For me there is only one way to get through the cleaning mundanity at the moment and that is some very loud cheesy music... I've been dancing around today listening to the old boyband classics... Take That, Boyzone, Five and many other of the original Brit boybands of the 90s and 00s... Take That will always be my true love, and if you've no idea who I'm talking about you're welcome to ask me any time. I'm going to see them again this summer with my mum, sister and cousin and I'm SUPER excited!!! I cannot wait... 
Still time to get on with the cleaning... I do that and have time to dance with my Dancing Kittiens - from MishMish at Kustom9 until February 10th - they seem to be enjoying the music as much as I am...

Preserving the Beauty

I always seem to start my blog posts complaining about working and being tired... I'm sorry about that but it's my permanent state of being at the moment... Today was one of those weird ass days when I've not had to work because I'm shift swapping so my boss can be off for mother's day tomorrow... 
I've had time on my hands, I've been trying to relax and find myself a with some time on my hands to do something new... 

I've never been into the thought of stuffed animals, unless they are the plushie kind, or taxidermy of any kind be it big game or the tiniest little instects. I LOVE seeing them in the wild, I LOVE the butterfly house at the zoo and I'm not averse to eating the animals but they should be treated with respect and raised fairly... It seems like the kind of decor that Rudh might go for in SL though, it would be perfect decor for her little cottage core life whie the butterflies flit in and out of the windows on the breeze...

Chips and Guac

It's May 5th...Cinco de Mayo... In the past I've mentioned I wanted to look more at other cultures holidays, and I did pay some attention to Chinese New Year, and I have in the past looked at Dia de los Muertos, but you hear the term Cinco de Mayo and I've never known what it is...This year I'm going to have a little look into the special day for the Mexicans, and I'll do that with some nachos and guac... 

So what is Cinco de Mayo... Originally a day to remember the victory in battle, Cinco de Mayo is now considered more of a celebration of Mexican culture... 
Knowing very little about Mexican culture other than what I've seen online I feel a little like I could cause offence by talking about tacos and sombreros and pinatas, and I mean no offence. I LOVE Mexican Food, althouh I guess you should more realistically say Tex-Mex foods... I love a good burrito, and nachos, and quesadilla, I'm not a HUGE fan of guacamole, but that's only because I think avocados taste like snot... However, I cannot resist the urge to fill a Nacho Dip Hat - from Junk Food - a sombrero that is perfectly formed to make a bowl for dip! It even provides extra chips for when the bag is empty...

This is Fine!

It's April Fools Day and today I wanted to do something to show off how much of an April Fool I could be... It's hard to believe that we're in the fourth month of the year and therefore a quarter of the way through already... It is the busiest season for me at work, and I'm feeling overworked, underpaid and overworked even more... I cannot handle rude, arrogant customers that let their children run wild and eat tasting samples like they are going out of fashion... I know I complain a lot about work right now, and you may not believe that I LOVE my job, I just wish I could do it without the people involved lol... 

Some of you may know that I work in a cheese shop in the middle of Amsterdam, I'm not ashamed to admit it, and I LOVE what I do... There are times though when my colleagues will tell you that I have trouble controlling my expressions and end up plastering what we like to call my "Minion Face" - a HUGE goofy smile - on my lips... 
I am exhausted, frustrated and wanting to run away, but all of that is buried deep inside and on the outside "This is Fine" - just like the set from MadPea, available until April 5th at equal10 - I'm going to just work my butt off and try to make things work and no-one will know that I feel bad on the inside... 
The drama in my mind aside I got some SUPER exciting news the other day and I'm finally able to share it since everything is set in place... I CAN TELL YOU THAT I'M NOW OFFICIALLY BLOGGING FOR MADPEA!!!!! I newarly fell of my chair a few days ago when I saw the message, but now I'm just dancing on clouds abou it.. YAY N STUFF!!!

The Flower Folk of Spring

March is a fairly important month, not only is it my birthday month, it's also the start of Spring officially and that means that this part of the world that I'm in life starts to start. Freshness, colours and warm sunshine become the most important things of the season... 
Second to Autumn, Spring is a time of year that I LOVE, I'm a girl that loves the dark and twisted but also the colourful pretties, and all the flowers that are springing to life make me super happy... 

Flower Fairies are just as happy as I am at this time of year, possibly more so, as it is they that are the ones that get to welcome in the flowers... Flowers of all kinds including favourites of mine like daffodils and lily of the valley, are making gardens look wonderful... 
The little Spring Flower Fairy in me is happy, sitting in the grass to talk to her magical little friends...

Milkshake Bar

I am having such a hugely busy time at work since I've been back home... My boss is on vacation, and my work bestie has been diagnosed with cancer so understandably she is not available. I'm working all hours under the sun, I'm coming home and as soon as I get here I'm pretty much passing out... Sometimes I'm even forgetting something very important, the fact that I need to eat! When I do remember to eat, I will admit that I'm not being very healthy and it is prett common right now that I'm having Ice Cream for dinner! 

Now one of the biggest reasons that I'm having Ice Cream for dinner is I've been craving milkshakes... Not just any milkshake though, I want the really thick, almost too difficult to get through  straw kind, that basically ice cream is just the frozen form of LOL... 
I was SO hungry for milkshake that when I finally managed to get a few moments to log into SL today, I HAD one thing on my mind...I had to set myself up a little Milkshake Bar, and make myself one ot two... 
There was the Dirt Cup - from Junk Food - a decadently chocolate concoction that has been decorated with a few gummy worms for a more dirty feeling. The gorgeous pastel selection of Fruit Smoothies - from Hangry - that are not only loaded with but are also dripping with pretty berries, AND a myriad of toppings like whipped creams and syrups!! 
I hope that things taste as good as they look?!

Cacti in the Greenhouse

I was asked to come back to work a day earlier than planned today, and the reason has had me shaken to the core... My work bestie has been diagnosed with breast cancer, I'm scared for her and now too my workload has automatically doubled. I don't care that I have to do the work, I just hope she gets through this and comes out with a smile on the other side...
This is making me feel a little bit prickly right now. I've become someone on edge, can't stand the thought of dealing with customers and really would rather be shut away somewhere that I can do pretty and lovely things till this ordeal is over for my friend... I'm so prickly, I'm almost cactus like... 

I think I might just do that for a while... Lock myself away in a warm sunny greenhouse - which would actually be a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis an "Event Walkway" - however you know things with me are never fully as they seem... When I drifted off to that magical place, the magic over took me. Surrounded by a sumptuous collection of cacti, hidden amongst the plants, you might spot her, the fae that protects those spiky little blobs of green... 
The little Cactus Fae blends in perfectly, like the Desert Flower - a set from Forest Fantasy Store - and some super soft wings - from everfaery - and today she's brought in a new member of the fairy garden. A new Lil-Cacti - from Tardfish - that could really be called a Cat-cai!! Won't he look lovely in the Cacti Garden?!

Why, why, why?? Why not make a Pie?

 It's officially the start of my weekend... I´ve done working for the week and now have a blissful two days in which I can rest. I can get things done around the house that I need to do, I can catch up on things that I have been missing in SL, and I might even do a little cooking... I have a bit of a crazing for a pie... Apple, no pecan, no rhubarb... Think it will actually be apples, since that's what I have in the fridge... I am so excited, I can't wait... 

There are so many good things that I think of when I think of Pie... Dean Winchester, American Pie, and chicken run - where the chickens don't wanna be a pie, they don't like grazy... I'm reminded of the Sunday evening dinners with my family as a kid. I LOVE the smells and the fact that they make great leftover breakfasts... 
The more I think about it, the more I want pie, and I'm determind to fill the house with the delicious smells... That's it... Tomorrow I'm making pie!

It's been a day off for me today, a MUCH NEEDED day off after the stresses of the weekend, but unfortunately I have to work again tomorrow so I'll just keep on trying to smile and let my mind wander off on an adventure to somewhere much nicer... 
My mind goes on so many adventures thanks to my blogging, some are much brighter than others, and some are much simpler than others... Today I decided that I'd slip off to a gorgeous sunny place, surrounded by the hum of the bees and a smell that's simply devine... 

Today if you need me, you can find me at the Sunflower Farm - which just happens to be a gorgeous backdrop from the amazing Synnergy.Tavis, which coincidentally is also where my pose is from too - where I've stopped to pick a few of the flowers and I really hope that the cute farm hand that I saw doesn't mind... It's not very often that I'm into cowboys, but for that one I'd have made an exception... 
I know that I'd dressed pretty today, I couldn't miss the look on the face of said farm boy when he saw me arrive on the farm, I cannot take all the credit it was the fault of Decoy and the Polina Flow Dress... I was left wondering as to his thoughts whilst I wandered up and down through the rows of sunflowers, until I noticed that same cowboy handing his puppy a bunch of flowers and directing him down the path towards me...

Muu-velous Picnics of Deviled Eggs & Tulips

It's been a long day, and I've had some crazy people to deal with but now that I'm home I feel like making something delicious for dinner and finding a chance to let my mind drift into somewhere fun and fantastical to allow me to relax after this long day... If it wasn't customers being obnoxious, it was the company head office causing issues starting new systems without any heads up... 
I think I'd like to drive out into the countryside and watch the stars, maybe with a picnic, a blanket and someone cute to enjoy the peace of my evening...

Only problem is, my darling little Muu buddies - from YOKAI - decided that their lil cow momma, that I had to dress up as to make sure they all felt safe and happy with me, decided that devilled eggs and chips weren't for them. They fancied the look of the farmers tulips instead...

Magically Summoning A Valentine

It's Valentines Weekend, and everywhere I look it seems like there are so many couples being cute and adorably sweet, but knowing my Hubby I'm going to be doing things all by myself on Tuesday and over the rest of the Valentines weekend. I got home from work, after a stupidly long and mental work day today, and I decided to take matters into my own hands. I wanted to find myself someone who'd appreciate me, I needed to find myself a special valentine that HellBone couldn't object to... It was time to head to the store to collect a few things and work a little magic... 

There are so many good things at the store these days to prepare for  magic spell on Valentines... I had a look at the spell that I've found in one of those cheesy "Ravishing" Romance Novels - from Random.Matter at Cupid Inc - which said I needed some Valentines Candy both chocolate and love heart styles, some beautifully scented flowers and since it's something that I enjoy a variety of different Valentines coffees, since they are definitely a way to a girls heart... Then place "The Perfect Boyfriend" made from chocolate - and released by Junk Food at Cupid Inc - into a pentacle of  Love Hearts and start chanting... If the magic works, your chocolate man will become your perfect Valentine...

A Scrap Booking Distraction

Yesterday night I got a bit of bad news in my RL and it's had a ripple effect, as these things always tend to do into my SL as well... I wanted to curl up and do something that will distract myself from the dark thoughts that were brewing, and since I couldn't really get myself in the mood to pose for pictures I decided to unpack my Christmas goodies.
As I sat on the floor, I found a new Holidays Scrapbook and decided it was time to sort through some of my pretty pictures... Memories of Christmasses that were better... 

Buried deep in a box of Christmas Clutter - from Half-Deer - covered with wrapping paper, fairy lights and tinsel - which actually is a new release, along with the santa head bands from dust bunny at Santa Inc - was the Holidays Scrapbook - from Insomnia Angel - just waiting to be filled with pretty pictures, and this would be just the distraction that I needed... 
I dressed my teddy in his cozy Christmas Pyjamas - a teddy from hive - and sat down with the book to start filling the pages with wonder, and as time slipped by somehow HellBone managed to sneak in with a brilliant Santa Cookie Jar that contained some candy cane cookies - from Junk Food at Anthem - and a very large mug of hot cocoa - from what next. 
Lots of nice things to take my mind off the bad things...

Giant Sandwiches & Scooby Doo Fantasies!

Every night when it comes to food I have to force myself to plan and cook something for dinner. When the hubby is out working, it's even more difficult to plan something for dinner since I can't find the mojo to plan then cook and eventually clean up all by my self... I don't mind the eating part in the middle, but it's the other stuff that makes it all seem more trying than anything else... 
Some days all I want is a sandwich... 

Sandwiches are both easy to make and delicious, PLUS there is a world of endless possibilities when it comes to sandwich fillings... When I was a teen I LOVED Corned Beef and Pickled Onion, when I was a student I LOVED Fish Finger Sanwiches with lots of HP sauce, and now that I work in a cheese shop I have a bit of an addiction to a Smoked Jalapeno Gouda Cheese with Chorizo and Salad... Honestly I could eat sandwiches for every meal, and lots of sandwiches per sitting...
I used to get jealous of Scooby Doo in the way that he could eat sandwiches, and now thanks to the Junk Food Giant Sandwich I can try to live my Scooby fantasies... I was making some delicious sandwiches, delicious Bologna Sandwiches - also from Junk Food - full of lovely fresh ingredients but once I had a plateful I got a little inspired... Scooby Doo Fantasy, here I come!!

Margaritas on Friday!

It's finally Friday, and this week seems to have been one that's been frought with drama on SL Facebook - the body debate, really seems to have divided the people on SL facebook, its been a debate that's messed with my Anxiety level and so I'm trying to avoid it as much as possible. It's a pointless arguement in which people are bringing body shaming into SL... 
I think it's time for a drink or two, something tht will help me relax a little. I feel tense by all of the drama, I don't come to SL for drama, I'm done with drama... I need something stiff to drink... I'm also not good with straight alcohol, so I'm in the mood to whip up a batch of cocktails... 

I've decided to set myself up a little back yard party, everything is bright and sunny and it seems like the perfect way to relax on a Friday afternoon, even if I'm doing it on my own... I slipped into a bikini, and pulled my hair into a cute high ponytail - a special release called Synthia, by Astralia for Hair Fair 2022 - and set up a cute little bar area, close to my pool. 
I was whipping up a batch of Margaritas and decided that today I needed MUCHO Margaritas, filled with brightly coloured straws and pretty things like umbrellas - luckily Junk Food has created a batch of them for N21 this month. Whilst I was busy making cocktails though I had an accidental spill, some of the margarita mix splashed and ended up in my pool... Then I had the idea... MARGARITA POOL!

Faking the Fireflies

I've finished work for the week, and although I only did very short hours, I am feeling kinda worn out. I want to do something relaxing and chillaxing, find my inner peace... 
I think I'm going to wander out into the night and collect up some more fireflies, I need some more of natures fairylights... 

There's nothing more relaxing than freewheeling on a bicycle in the evening through the peaceful fields - a backdrop from Synnergy really - to the perfect spot where the fireflies gather... 
Curling up in the long grass, listening to the pretty sounds of the evening, the smell of the flowers in the air and an empty jar waiting to hold some new fairylights... 
I've been told that the best way to lure in the fireflies is with a light that looks like a larger version of themselves... It seemed like the perfect time to whip out the Party Sparklers - from Moon Rabbit, available at Cosmopolitan until May 28th - they look like held fireflies don't they?!

Making An 'Elfy Dinner

I just got home from work, and watched the Dutch Prime Ministers press conference and it's been decided that the Netherlands has gone back into a Hard Lockdown... Frustrating, since my place of work is thinking they may stay open, but I have to wait and see now... I don't mind having some extra time off LOL, but it does bug me that Christmas will be another lock down event this year! 

I changed out of my work clothing and went into the kitchen to start making dinner, but I was feeling like such a grinch that when I spotted some of those little elves sitting on my shelves, I decided to take somewhat Scrooge-ish actions... 
I convinced these Mischevious Elves - from Junk Food, available now at The Epiphany - that drinking lots of wine was a good idea... Really it was a good way to marinade Christmas Elf before you boil them up in a stew!

Fireworks Night... Make the Sky Light Up!

Remember, Remember the fifth of November... Gun powder, Treason and Plot.. I see no reason why Gun Powder treason, should ever be forgot.. 
It's the 5th of November, and for the UK that means it's Bonfire Night, or more historically correct Guy Fawkes Night. A memorial day in which bonfires are lit, effigys of a Guy Fawkes are set on fire and fireworks light the night sky to remember the plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament... 
I'm not a fan of fireworks in RL, because I hate the loud bangs - yes I'm a wuss - but they are pretty to watch through the window... 

Rudh on the other hand, marched up to the roof of the apartment building - a backdrop from Synnergy a "Nighttime Rooftop" - armed with a box of fireworks and a tub of sparklers for a little Fireworks night fun... 
Sparklers are so pretty but I think that the find for me today was the Fireworks - which actually come from a Particle Typer from ZARK - I wanted fireworks but most were too huge and too far away, these make the PERFECT photo prop!!

"When life gives you Lemons..."

When life gives you lemons, they say that you should make lemonade.. I wonder why they stick with just lemonade, why not put them in cakes too lol.. Lemon cake is yum and seriously, if people are going to give you lemons, then you should definitely use that for all they are worth. 
I've been given a few lemons today and rather than letting them make me sour and unhappy, I'm gonna say "fuck those sour lemons", I'm gonna make cake and smile about the sourpusses! 

I am finally done with things that made me feel pretty down in the dumps, I made choices for my own life and I've stuck to them, not letting someone else manipulate me any further. My lemon cake is going to taste super sweet, and everything will be sweet from now on...
