Mardi Gras!

Today is Mardi Gras... Apparently... Honestly I had a bit of a shock the other day. I have in the past decided to look into holidays of other cultures to broaden my horizons and give me lots of information about things I didn't know... One thing I wasn't expecting when I decided to learn about Mardi Gras was that it is actually a day I know fairly well... Mardi Gras is the French celebration translated as Fat Tuesday, known to me with my Brit roots as Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday... 

So what is Mardi Gras and what random interesting things do I know about it... When I think of Mardi Gras I think of New Orleans, it's a party to celebrate the end of Carnival, and just like Shrove Tuesday in the UK, where it's common practice to stuff ourselves with pancakes, it's the last day of eating heavy, rich, fatty foods before the Christian Festival of Lent... 
I know the parties of Carnival can be crazy, they celebrate here in the Netherlands too, but one day I'd love to see how it's done in New Orleans whilst stuffing down some delicious pancakes LOL...

Cuties in the Mermaid Cove

I am in a playful mood today... I cannot trll you why, I'm not really sure myself, but sometimes a fun fancy dress costume and it lead me to the happiest and most under-the-sea, today though I'm not going to be alone under the sea... Today there is a welcoming party taking place for my jellyfish style... 

I've gone from being a little mermaid, and I've been a little sea witch like Ursula, but today I'm doing something a little jelly-licious... Jelly is fun to wiggle but those jellyfish often come with a zing in their step... They are electrofying... Their electric energy brings all the adorable little sea critters out to play... There are Shoals of Fish, Starfish, Clams, and Crabs - all of which are available at MishMish - and even the rare little rainbow Flapjack Octopus and his friends - a release from Aardvark, available until August 8th at ACCESS by the way - have been brought out to play in the Mermaid Cove...

A Dance with the Jellies

Trying to lift my mood from that feeling of being down in the dumps and to do that I'm going to drop myself back into my blogging. I have lots of things to do and lots of things that I need to play with. I'm actually looking forward to finding all different kinds of weird and wonderful fantasy worlds to get lost in... 
Today I took a little dive under the sea... I was swimming around and found myself the perfect place to let off some steam. I mean it's definitely a cold place where the steam will be dealt with. Deep under the sea, where the jellyfish gather to dance... 

Below the surface of the seas, in the rocks and corals there is a secluded space where the Jellyfish dance... Whilst I was visiting I dug through my massive wardrobe and found the perfect costume to join the dance in the form of a beautiful Fay Dress in a pale sky colour - thanks to a gorgeous dress released by Kiru. There was, however, something missing... I needed something that would pack a punch, I didn't have a sting but I did know a little eel that lived close by. I decided to replace that poisonous sting, since I'd more than likely have stung myself, with a little Voltaic Aura - from Quills & Curiosities, at the current round of The Warehouse Sale - to give those around me a little shock...

Meeting Friends On Farm Lane

Had finally been able to have a day off, somewhere that I could laze about and relax in my jammies with a cuppa tea and a fuzzy blanket, but that didn't stop Rudh from needing to get out into the fresh air and stop to smell the flowers. 
It was decided that I've been going into the city too much and needed a day in the countryside. Somewhere that the air is fresh, the flowers are springing up as an early sign of Spring and it's not only the flowers are new to the sunlight... 

I'd been walking through the rural landscape, and saw the prettiest of flowers - plants in a bundle from kotte, available until April 10th at Kustom9 - that I had to pick a couple of blooms to take home as a momento of my happy day... I was happily humming along, wandering down a Farm Lane - which happens to be a new backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - when I noticed that I wasn't alone... Turning I noticed that I must have made one of those rookie countryside mistakes, apparently I'd left the gate open and one of the farms new babes had slipped through the gap and followed me down the lane... Momma looked on through the gate, ensuring the safety of her little calf, somehow knowing the city slicking, cow girl would find a way to see her baby home...

Look what the Tinker Fae found...

I came home from work tonight and for some reason I was drawn to an incessant need to squeeze my puppy Izzy super tight, I'd seen people with their dogs walking in the street but there was someone missing. Where I work, we have a local homeless guy, we know as Jaap - a very Dutch name - who comes by to see us sometimes just to ask if we have any spare cardboard boxes, and we always slip him a little something to eat. Some cheese for him and his little scruffy Jack Russell, Murphy, when I saw Jaap today, sitting in a doorway he was missing his Murphy. I feel aweful, I didn't get a chance to speak to him but I'll have to try to find him tomorrow... 
For my 31 days of Halloween, today I'm a little fae exploring in the dark and looking for things to add to my collection of human things... 

I've always wanted to be a Tinker Fairy, one that was like a cool version of Tinkerbell without the grumpy attitude... Maybe it's one of those things that takes me back to my love of a children's book called "The Borrowers", in which little people lived in the walls of a house and came out to "borrow" things from the big people... Our little borrowing Tinker Fae has found herself the Old Prison - a backdrop from TROPIX - having a lit an old Groundskeeper Lantern - from random.Matter - that she found in The Engine Room... Her beautiful Songbird Fae shimmery wings - from AiiZawa - glittering in the soft lamp light.. The rest of the corridor lit by the eerie glow radiating from the ghostly Rottweiler - from JIAN - that was looking for his Master...

Prepping for the Midnight Ball

Work is SUPER busy at the moment. I've never seen so many people buying cheese on a hot day like today, especially on a Wednesday - traditionally the quietest day of the week - and I've been running around and around, talking to crazy people... I wanted nothing more than a chance to get home and shower then put my feet up, but poor little Rudhie had other plans.

Tonight she'd gotten work at a very special party and it wasn't the kind of gala to miss... A chance to see the elite of the Midnight Order at the Masquerade Ball, in their beautifully, dark glory - even if I'm only able to be there as a waitress... 
Of course, it couldn't be a normal waitressing gig, I HAD to fit the beautiful theme of the ball and wear the elaborate costume of a dark maid, to deliver the tray of delicious Holy Blood Cocktails to the beautiful guests of the Midnight Order. 
Her outfit is a simple Quintina Dress and crisp white collar - from Kiru - decorated with an Aurora Leather Collar - from ANATAYA -  and a super pretty but Bloody Rose Collar - from HARU. Anything above that is just perfectly glamorous, Rudh's hair has been done in a beautiful "Emily" up-do hairstyle, which comes with the gorgeous eyepatch, and some not worn hair accessories - from S-CLUB - with a gorgeous Solaris Crown - from Decoy, available at Collabor88 until August 6th - and some of the most awesome eyeliner and face painted freckles - from GERMINAL.

OMG... The Dolly Carnage!

I'm a Barbie Girl, in a Barbie World... Life in plastic, it's fantastic...
I make no secret of the fact that Rudh is my adult version of a my childhood Barbie! I dress her up, I make her do things that Barbie used to do, and well OK sometimes the term Adult Barbie can definitely applied in more ways than one LOL... Yet there is one thing that this Barbie has which is better than my RL ones ever used to have... She's safe from my doll destroying sister hehe... 

Honestly Rudh got a taste of that experience when she was playing around in her new A Toy's Story Life, after getting herself trapped in the Barlie box - from Ananas at The Warehouse Sale - and ended up in a situation that was very similar to the one my Sister put my RL dolls in... 
It was like a toy carnage... Some had already been caught in the Tantrum - a gacha collection filled with ripped teddies and broken dolls from Sakura - some were waiting to be broken...
