Amsterdam's Pride

Hello out there, remember me? I'm that girl that used to ramble on about nonsense in every blogpost I wrote, usually accompanying that with a silly picture that I loved but most people probably thought was a bit bonkers... I've had a bit of an unexpected absense recently... I've alluded to things in the past but mid house move, we had an emergency in RL and I had to make another mad dash back to the UK... I'm not really ready to talk about it yet, but I will in time, even writing this is making me emotional... 
Still, I NEED to start finding some semblance of normality... I'm back in Holland now, and since it's a special day in Amsterdam, I'm going to use it as a gentle way to get back to blogging... 

Today is Amsterdam Pride... Not being proud of Amsterdam - although that is an every day thing for the Amsterdammers that I know and love - although perhaps it's a good day to be proud of the city and it's people. A day when the Netherlands shines as a Gay capital of the world, and Amsterdam being the first city to legalize same sex marriages throws open it's canals for one of the most colourful parades in the world... I LOVE Amsterdam Pride every year, this year we're hosting World Pride too which makes it seem extra special. I just wish I was feeling strong enough to go and join the fun!!! Everyone should be celebrating love today... Love is one of the most important things a person can have, it's one of those very important things that keeps me going... I'm going to enjoy a little love today, celebrate Pride a little more and enjoy some special churros and maybe a little puff-puff-pass action?!

Celebrating a little more Pride@Home!

Pride month has been active for a few long weeks and I know that I've missed mostly all of it. I have some very good reasons and as much as I know that Pride is important, right now I don't have much of the normal brain capacity I work with... I Stand by those celebrating Pride, and all the things that it represents, but my ability to see colours in things has somewhat diminished this week! I had devastating news and I'm just trying to keep my head on straight for the entire family... 

Still, since it's drawing closer to the end of the month, and since there are so many reasons for so many to be living their best life right now, I NEED to think a few happy thoughts. I NEED a little colour while there is none here... I went to see the Take That Circus show, but I'm a very sad little clown right now... Perhaps I'm doing things wrong?! 
I popped into Pride@Home for a breather from my families RL chaos and decided it was time for an ice cream... I may have been decked out in rainbows, but that feels like such a mask and putting on a show right now... Maybe I am more like one of the circus clowns I saw than I realised?! 
Hope everyone that was celebrating had a wonderful Pride Month... I will be heading home soon and NEED some time to get my head on straighter! Bear with me, things could get a little more rocky over the next few months!

A Moment To Pause...

Home after a very short trip to see my parents in the UK over New Years... Every time I come back it always feels like it was never long enough and I feel totally and utterly empty at the moment. I miss my family and the homesickness never seems to get any easier, but I guess on that note I should warn you... This is my first pensive post of the year, it won't be all fun and games as I have a lot of rambling thoughts to share. If you're not wanting to read all that, I understand, but enjoy the picture and the credits at the bottom of my ramble... Otherwise read on... 

I'm home again, back in my little house on Gingerbread Lane - in this case a backdrop from Synnergy.Tavis - and while Hell is unloading the car, I'm going to take a moment to sit and talk with you over a nice cup of coffee from my cozy Thermos Flask - from andika, available until January 27th at Anthem - and I don't know why but being the snow feels peaceful right now... 
As I've been hinting lately, there will be a LOT of things happening this year and my mind is totally distracted and crazed and not in a very happy place right now... If you asked me about any resolutions for this year, I'd tell you that I simply want to get through the year with everything going smoothly, everyone around me being happy, and all the troubles passing by in the blink of a eye... 
HellBone and I have a MASSIVE undertaking starting in February. Per Dutch Law, our house is in need of some major rennovations. We have to move out for 6 months, and although we're lucky in that the cheese company I work for is able to provide me temporary accomodations for that time, I'm MOVING and we have to clear out the ENTIRE GROUND FLOOR of our house... There is SO MUCH to do and I'm stressing about that... Packing, organising, tidying, cleaning, travelling back and forward to our new location to get things sorted, I need a break already and we haven't even started... 
On another note, there is illness in my family and it makes me worry even more... My grandmother is 93 and suffering with demensia, she also cannot get herself out of bed anymore without the help of a nurse. My grandfather is trying but it's a stress on him, yet he's too stubborn to let anyone else help, and it's causing fights with others in the family. Then there is my Mum... In October, my mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It's not going to be viable to surgically remove the cancer, so she is going to be undergoing intensive chemo for the next few months. At the moment it's all a case of wait and see what is happening and how things will go, I'm remaining strong for her but behind closed doors I'm broken and crying and STILL trying to focus on the move just to stop myself jumping back on a plane to see my mummy again... 
I'm not in a good place, this year has just started and I'm going to need all the luck I can get. Please bear with me if I start getting upset or my blogging is erratic... If you need support or love or someone to listen, I'll always be here, just remember I care even if I'm not doing well. Keep everything crossed for my mum, for my grandma and for my sanity... I already can't wait for 2026 to be done... OH AND on top of all that, this year I TURN 40!!! Bring it on 2026...

The Old Christmas Decorations!

Since it's so early in December, things are slowly starting to get a little festive, and I'm slowly getting myself into decorating... Today I pulled things out of storage and blew th dust off the boxes containing my decorations. Every year I always buy new things and still end up using the pretty old things I've had over the years... There are a lot of boxes, and phew getting them all out of storage is hard work... 

Grabbing myself a delicious, Sloppy Tomago Sando - from Cat-Noodle - that I'd had waiting in the fridge, I sat down with my kittens to get my grub on... I was about to take a bite of the delicious egg sammich, I noticed that one of my kittens - a cat from Jian - had discovered a bag of catnip stashed in with the decorations in boxes and was going coo-coo for coco puffs... I almost had my eggs poached by my other little friend!
