Gifts from Sinterklaas

Today is the Dutch holiday of Sinterklaas... Most of the Dutchies seem to have celebrated over the weekend, but HellBone had a present from me this morning. It's a holiday that's only really known in the Dutch, or the Dutch colonies, but it's a holiday that's a controversial event due to the historical actions behind the story... 
Sinterklaas is the story of a Turkish holy man, that along with his assistants that some people say are actually his slaves, came to the Netherlands to give gifts and care to the poor. That is where the problem lies, the assistants known as the "Zwarte Piets" (Black Peters) in some stories are African slaves, and in others they are street urchins that are black because of their trips up and down the chimnies to leave gifts for the poor children... It's a contentious issue... Personally, I prefer the latter version of this fairytale. If I every think of the Zwarte Piets I think of the soot on their skin... 

I know so many children in this place, of all different creeds and races, that LOVE the idea of Sinterklaas. For the last three weeks, they've been getting little goodies and candies in their shoes, and on December 5th there should be treats gallore. It's supposed to be a happy time, although with the race issues it's becoming less about family togetherness and the fairytale in the terms I choose to enjoy it, and more about the colours of skin. 
I'll be decorating my little SL home with some true Sinterklaas Decor - a collection from DRD - and rolling around in the soot to make it look like I've been climbing chimnies like the sweeps in old London.

She's a little Dandy...

I've been seeing everywhere about the changes the LL are making to SL in regards to the Gacha policy and I have to admit that I'm on both sides of the fence... I know I can continue to resell my Gacha extras since I will be advertising EXACTLY what people will get, but I'm kinda glad too because I will admit I have a bit of an addiction and can blow thousands of Lindens needlessly on things I don't want anymore! 
To distract myself from all of the talk on Facebook though I decided to slip away and be one with the fairies... 

I really can be all over the place when it comes to blogging, but I LOVE playing around with things... 
I was planning on writing a pretty story, but right now I'm thinking about the Gacha thing and I just love this hair from analog dog that as soon as I tried it I was thinking DANDELION in the blond colour... 
I also know it's TEENY in the picture but I have to show you something AMAZING... The recent release from Celeste - and I have to admit here that I forgot where I bought it but may be able to change that later hehe - is SO FREAKING GORGEOUS I had to add the store add to show it off in the bestest way ever... Isn't it totally gorgeous?!

Goodbye My Hero

A few days ago I did something retro, a little look back in time and really enjoyed myself. I loved the 60s, but I my favourite time period, the one that gets me really excited as a total history geek is the Medieval period. I love that there is so much conjecture and so much space to work out what items were and how they were used... Yet one of the other things that happen with the Medieval period is that it's often romanticised!! I love the beauty and romance of it!

I got super excited when I saw this dress being released at the Trunk Show - which is open until March 18th - from Infinity. The Yalena Green dress was just soooo pretty I couldn't really help having a need to have it... 
She's at the castle of Luanes World, watching her hero riding away to battle... The crown on her head - from lassitude & ennui - is barely holding her hair down in the wind.
Will he come back? Will he be hurt?
