There are many that seek this knowledge, and not all of those people have the best of intentions... There are those that want the dark magic, they are devious and will do whatever it takes... 

Rudh is one of these dark, depraved souls... She's come down with some deep need for some very dark magic and has heard that the books in these caves hold the secrets she desires. 
She's a Witch, hiding in the darkness until anyone who approaches passes, her wolf guardian keeping watch - as who would even notice a giant wolf in the dark...
