The Stance of a Gladiator

The heat is on and I'm going into battle to fight the monsters that are too hot, too sweaty and too drowsy... There are so many things wrong with being in temperatures this hot, especially since the home I have has no way of cooling off, and all of the heat is trapped inside... 
I'm going to fight... Im going to dive in and handle the heat in the same fighting spirit as the Roman Gladiators... 

I never really found the interest in Roman Archaeology when I was studying Archaeology at university and in fact any time since. My reason is that we know SO MUCH about them, they left written accounts of their daily life so there is little room for speculation, unlike the Dark Ages... 
The Gladiators knew how to fight though, many were not military trained, and perhaps that was the key to their popularity. They were able to fight in ways that most people couldn't... They were made to kick ass, and the best were like the footballers of today...

Stones for Roses

I have been trying to keep my lazy brain active lately, reading and learning more about new and old things alike, and one of those things has been taking me back to my archaeological roots, today I was looking into a little Greek Mythology... Namely, at least for today, Medusa... The poor woman get's so much bad press for turning heroes to stone just because they look at her, but it has been said that it was a punishment caused by being in the wrong place, with the wrong person at the wrong time! 

It's what happens when you let Poseidon flirt with you in the tomb of another goddess... Mind you have you seen the recent re-incarnation of Poseidon, I mean I know he's not Poseidon but Aquaman is almost as close... 
She's not been on a date in such a long time, since her hairy pets have a tendancy to turn the boys to stone, but at least those boys that do come to visit bring her pretty flowers - thanks to the pose from Secret Poses, in which you have the option to use both Pink or Red roses. She loves roses, almost as much as her pet snakes, that's why she's had them tattooed into her Medusa Tattoo over her shoulders and down her arms - thanks to a gorgeous Skin Fair release from Psycho Barbie - and is happy to show them off with her adorable Shallan Outfit - a pretty floaty little gypsy number from 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Shame that to get the roses, the guys have to get turned to stone...
