A Little Ray of Pitch Black

Halloween is now officially over and that means that for many people, the spookies will be stashed away in closets until next year... It's not going to be the case for me, I love the spookies, but then many people might say I've always been a little weird lol... I like it that way!!
I might not be dressing up in full on costumes at the moment, but I'm liking letting my dark little dead doll side out to play... 

I'd been playing in other ways too though this month, and was super excited that this Halloween saw the return of the ever brilliant Pulse Games, with their Cutting Class Game!!! The best Halloween event, aside from the Dark Adventures because I'm biased about that one, by far this month!!
While on the hunt through the game, the little dead doll I am had to find herself in an adorable outfit... I guess you might call this a look-of-the-day, and technically as we're talking about Pulse Games we can focus on the adorable Sn@tch Wrong Crop tops, which come in a set and have both cute Halloween and non-Halloweeny slogans on - these are available until the end of today at Trick or Treat Lane! Painting my skin with tattoos from Germinal and Seydr - both of which are game prizes from the Cutting Class Game...

Sneaking like the Tortoise, Sleeping like the Hare

The next few days are going to be a little busy for me in RL. My Dad is coming to visit and so I know that I'm going to be running round trying to make sure that he's relaxed and happy. Take this morning for instance, it's not long after 6AM as I sit here writing this, and Dad will be here in a few hours, but in our house all is quiet as HellBone still sleeps! 
The feeling in the house his morning reminded me so much of a photo that I took recently... 

It's so perfect for the feeling in this house this morning!!! I am sneaking around trying to get a few things done, while HellBone sleeps! 
The pose is actually a release from Image Essentials for the second Fable Event that's based on the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, if you didn't guess that already hehe - which runs until August 26th by the way - an event themed on fairytales, which frankly had me more than a little excited LOL... You know how I get with fairytales...
Due to the early hour I'm happy to be busy with the tortoise, slow and steady and getting things done, though I may have to wake the hare as I heard from my dad and he's heading to the station!!! YAY!!!

The Road to Nowhere

Every year I get so very excited about one event in particular that gets me oh-so-very excited. Last year I was a little disappointed in the theme - I felt it was a bit lacking and kinda less immersive than it had been in previous years, but this year was GREAT. 
I'm not sure how long it runs for but you should still have time, and if you have a spare 50L burning a hole in your pocket I promise you this isn't a waste of money... Go and check out the Pulse Games and Sn@tch event for this year - NOWHERE! 

Hinting on a theme that is one of my true phobias I was finding myself genuinely scared - luckily due to the fact that this has always been date night for me and my bestie I had not one but two knights in shining armour to protect me! 
I'm not going to go into too many details but the story starts as "You are a motorist who wakes up after a bad car accident on the side of an unknown highway. You do not remember who you are or why you are here. You must walk the dark highway to find help and find out who you are"- quoted from the information provided by the creation team -  and you're on the road to Nowhere!
My Halloween Costume this year seemed perfect for the story - I was dressed as a normal teenage girl, because well I'm usually a Dead Doll and teenage girls are scary! Maybe I shouldn't have been texting while driving?!

A little 1920's Glamour

I know I promised people around me that I wouldn't think about work whilst I was away, but for me blogging isn't really work, it's more of a means of release if I'm being totally honest! Hence, why I make time for it even though I am technically on holiday!

Today I want to share something very pretty, rather romantic atmospherically and something that feels a little bit magical - in the same way that having some time to relax at home is feeling, I guess?!

This time I'm taking a trip back in time, as I've been thinking about the Retro Rewind event that has been taking place in SL and that closes on the 12th, and I slip back in time to the roaring 20's. A time of glamour and depression all rolled into one decade, a time when Art Deco was the height of fashion...

I chose an amazing dress from the event to share with you, something so pretty but something that I'd never normally choose too. It gave me the chance to slip into a fantasy character that would have felt right at home in a 1920's gangster family. She oozes glamour and elegance. The dress is the Evening Dress from Sakide - which you can pick up at the Retro Rewind until October 15th - and I accessorized it with a cute Crochet Choker from (Yummy) and a wig that Wasabi Pills made a long time ago which is perfect for the era.

A glamorous look needs a glamorous location to be seen in. The location I chose was perfect, though nothing of the mobster feel really, but the glitz I was looking for could be found at The Outer Garden!

Still for now I have done with the glamour I think, it's time to slip into my PJs and curl up warm and cosy...

Magically late!

Sometimes I kick myself for working on things, putting them to one side and then thinking dammit I am too late with this... I have in the past thought no, I won't put them on the rambling space as it's too late for the event, but I guess any promotion of things is good promotion, especially when I am promoting something so magical! 
SO many of these things were releases for The Wizarding Faire, BUT just because the event has now closed doesn't mean that your chance to get these items is over... You never know, if you head to the brand's main stores you may be in luck... Magical luck...

The dress is a non-Wizarding release, and I have been a bad girl and left it to gather dust in my hoard for far longer than should have been allowed... This is a Sn@tch Nikola gown that includes the shawl with the dress. I just love that pattern, that in itself has a touch of magic to it, but when you team it with the awesome Albus Hat from LODE - this one was a Wizarding item btw.
Things such as the Cauldron of the Stars from Half-Deer, the Pumpkin Puff from HEXtraordinary and the !Ohmai Emporium Niffler pets, which are the most amazing cutest pets EVER, were available for the Wizarding Faire but should now be available at the main stores... If not, perhaps crying and pouting to the designers might help?! Or perhaps since it's Wizards you might get a spell on you?!

My favourite Hair Fair Freebies!!

The Hair Fair starts tomorrow and my goodness there are so many pretty styles waiting there for you. I went and bought 7, although after I've finished this post that total number may be more like 8, but I will no doubt show you those later... 
For now though I've been through all the freebie hairs that I have been able to find on each of the sims... There are four sims in total, named for hair colours... 

Red Head First... As we all know, I am a redhead not just in SL but in RL too, and I personally believe that Red Heads have more fun LOL... I know that there will be so many people who disagree but it's my blog and I wanna start with them... 
I picked my four favourite FREEBIE styles from the Red Head Sim... First is from [DUE] - a short wavy style perfect for the beach, second is a  floppy slightly Emo style from [INK], the next is a little girlie pair of braids from MaiOwn! and lastly a formal and fancy updo from Elikatira... 

Noirette next, and here I found five freebies that I had to share with you... Some of these come with huds for multiple different colourings, but as I am a redhead then I chose the read colours - you won't always need to wear them in these colours! 
My favourite freebies from this sim included a short bob from Tameless, a somewhat steam-punkish half up-do from Olive, a very low and loose one sided ponytail from Mithral, a long braid complete with hat from EMO-tions and a pretty Exile long and loose style...

Then comes the Brunette Sim. Here I had some freebies that I loved from some big names... Wasabi Pills has always been somewhere I know I can go to for the cute colourful styles, I also loved the two choppy short bobs from Calico and Lamb, but it was here I found a new store that specialises in fantasy hair called Oblivion... That will definitely be one worth checking out in the future!!! Some of the royal styles they had looked brilliant! 

Lastly the freebies on the Blonde Sim...I found a few more stores here that I'd never heard of too... This event has definitely opened my eyes for the new hair stores in SL... I'd been stuck with the same few that I'd always gone too... WELL not anymore!! On the Blonde Sim I picked up freebies from Sage - a cool dread locked up-do - a short and colourful retro style from Yuko and something a little "Jackie O" from Murray... I even found some awesome two toned styles from Analog Dog and Little Bones!!! 
That's a lot of hair right there and THAT is just the freebies, there are so many more things I have to show you over the next few days but good luck getting into Hair Fair starting from tomorrow... It´s gonna be busy but I promise you it´s worth it!!!

Welcoming Me Back...

That's it, the holiday is over, and I have been welcomed home with a bump LOL... No more living in cloud Emily land, where your parents look after you and everything is relaxing and fun... Its straight back into the reality, and by that I mean normal life including my SL and all the work that can come with it LOL... 
No sooner had I logged in yesterday, and was working through the mountain, when drama struck... Luckily Hell was able to handle it and I didn't need to be involved LOL but sometimes it really is like jumping on a skateboard and rolling down a HUGE hill!!!

There is no way that I'd normally do this, it would freak me out LOL. I might if I was allowed to sit down on the board, but there is no way I'd be as brave as my Rudh dolly and plan on doing it standing! Though I guess when you are able to handle drama, then sometimes you have to take the risk huh?!
I'm not even dressed for the task ahead of me really LOL... I mean OK I was wearing some combat boots, which I guess are smarter than heels or bare foot, which tends to be my usual foot look! But the dress, although it is very cute - from Sn@tch called Hayden - doesn't really look like it will be good protection against falling from a fast moving skateboard! 
Talking of skateboards, if you want some good boarding poses, and OK these are made for a man but they are perfectly good to be used by women too - as I proved hehe - then head to Signature Pose... 
Someone get the first aid kit ready, I have a feeling I might need it!!!

A Consignment of Psycho Snatch!

Once a year at the arrival of spring, an eerie silence falls over the hidden mountain swamps of Cadair Idris. From somewhere deep within the sound of carnival music rolls through the air, looping repeatedly, trying to seduce people to come and see the bright colours and funtastic rides of the fair... The birds do not sing when the carnival calls people in, and even the roar of the loudest motorbike is drowned out by the music that takes control of your mind...
The Gator Hell Carnival was once a glowing beacon in the spring sunshine... The air was filled with the scent of candyfloss, the lights shimmered in the early evening gloom and the sound of laughter rolled over the hills... Now - for most of the year - all you hear is the sound of the carnival decaying.
Although every year at about this time another strange thing happens... A sad lonely girl is seen wandering the carnival, her vintage trailer parked by the fence. She never speaks, only cries, words that call out to her "love"...

*coughs*
Sometimes I tend to get a bit carried away when setting up a post don't I?! While working on this photo I definitely felt inspired to do something... I couldn't really resist making up a story in my head hehe...
The Carnival used in the display is one that I have mentioned before. It is the EL Carnival from DRD that you can collect for yourself at this month's still on-going round of The Arcade. Also from The Arcade are a few of the things I used which originate in the brand Consignment... Things I used here such as the caravan, lawn chairs, cooler, radio and flamingo are all part of Consignment's Open Road Collection - while other non-Arcade Consignment goodies like the trellis and the fire pit can be found at this month's Collabor88! I'm also wearing one of the hair releases from Clawtooth, that you can pick up at The Arcade. This style is called La Bella Donna, and I'm wearing a colour from the Outrageous pack and each of the roses can be individually re-coloured via a hud!!
The idea of the roses though was actually sparked by two other items I'm wearing here that I realised would be SUPER CUTE together. The dress is a Sn@tch original! Called Rosa Club Dress, when you buy this pretty dress you get it in a range of colours - each in the standard mesh sizes. I spent some time 'umming and awwing' over the dress... It wasn't my usual taste at all, I never normally wear floral, especially roses, but then I found the PSYCHO:Byts Flowers Sunglasses at Suicide Dollz and knew they'd be perfect... As luck would have it I won black first try, the outfit was meant to be hehe...
The Look was meant to be, she is all pretty waiting for her long lost love... I wonder if he will ever come to find her?

The Early Morning Dash...

You know how it is, or at least this is how it is for me anyway, you get up from your nice warm snuggly bed and the first thing that comes to mind is "ARGH GOTTA PEE!!"
I got out of bed this morning and had to run down the stairs - which is pretty perilous in our RL house as Dutch stairs are steep and narrow!! - grabbing at clothing on the way so I could get ready for work without waking his lordship, and for those of you that are interested, made it to the potty on time LOL...
When I sat at my desk at work, wondering which post I wanted to write today, this was the perfect one that sprung to mind... I'd taken a photo of an early morning SL dash to the loo... Weird aren't I? LOL...

This does sum up things pretty well though, I mean Rudh, like me this morning, grabs the first clothes that she can find before her mad dash across the road to the Gators MC out house! Hoping that HellBone hasn't been in there first!
Today the skirt - from Sn@tch - matched the top, but the socks didn't match the outfit OR each other LOL... Whoops!!!
The socks, grabbed from a pile, are mis-matched but it isn't until after the dash that she notices. Her left leg is encased in a Biddy Sock, the pretty little wings decorating the back, while the right leg has a Kitty Paw Sock that were once available from Love Zombie - unfortunately no longer since the store closed!
The photo not only points out her odd socks, but also gives you a perfect look at her leg tattoos that you so often do not see from this angle! The right leg is one that has been shown from the front before - a garter style tattoo called Sex OldWest from PerveTTe, and my left with it's new ink is a Measurement Tattoo from Gang/Cold. I saw this one advertised on the Seraphim coverage of Whore Couture Fair and HAD to get my hands on it. It made me laugh... There is a story, let me share it with you... Sometimes my hubby tends to be a little ignorant of things around him. One day some of our circle of friends were standing around talking and he randomly - on voice - says to me "Babe do you always dress like a Slut?" He was lucky he didn't get a smack, but I laughed and can now say, "You might wanna check the measurement before you call me a Slut" LOL...

Me and My Blog... Monday's Meme

A while ago now Miss Strawberry Singh was our leader, posting regular blog memes that we could dip into and out of as we had time. I tried to complete them every week but there were times that I just missed out due to RL... One of those times was a series of questions that asked us about our blogs, our blogging style and even asked for some tips to help others. I still consider myself to be a new blogger, I know that the random ramblings have been active for a while now, but in the blogging world I am still a total unknown. I don't ever score masses of likes, I don't think I have a wide fanbase - although I do know the people that read my ramblings, read them regularly - and I have always been a little outside the box when it comes to blogging. I blog what I love, I don't fit the popular styles most of the time and if I am totally honest, that is just the way I want it to be. I wouldn't want it any other way...
As goes to to show with the photo I have chosen to put with this series of questions!

Like I will no doubt say later on, I AM more than a little addicted - or should that be hooked? - to the process that goes into the blogging, photography and editing aspects of keeping an online journal. Without this addiction, I am not sure I would have anything to do with myself in SL anymore LOL...

Which electronic devices do you use to blog with? I hate to admit it but I am so old school lol, when it comes to blogging I will only use my PC - sometimes I write a post on my work PC but it is always done sitting behind a desk lol...
Do you have a mission statement for your blog, if so, what is it? My blog has and will always be like my journal. I LOVE to share the things I find and love in SL, but I also on occasion will discuss issues that matter to me, along with the odd Meme or Challenge along the way. I try to keep it fun and light and entertaining, because that is the kind of blog I like to read myself!
How do you feel about blogs that use their platforms to spread negativity? I am sure there is a reader base for those but I am not really interested so I avoid them.
Are you a grammar junkie? Do you thoroughly check your blog for errors before posting and/or do you judge other people’s posts if they contain errors? Ummm No lol not really... I am so bad at checking my blog posts before I post them. Sometimes I just check for the red squigglies under words and don't pay any attention to grammer... Sorry to anyone who reads my blog for that by the way... I only have one pet hate when it comes to grammer and it is people who write in text speak... "U" and "R" is just laziness, they AREN'T long words to type people LOL...
If you could switch blogs with another blogger who would it be? There is a lot of blogs that I read and from time to time I think I wish I'd done that lol... I love all kinds of blogs for different reasons. My bloggerette friends Eliza Quixote and Mildread Gloom, are people I would love to swap with for the day... Eliza's posts are very feminine and Millie's are even darker than mine tend to be, so it would be fun to play with their different styles. OH AND... Berry! LOL! I'd love to be able to say I had a blog that provided entertainment and education like yours!
Has your blog/blogging style evolved over the year(s)? How? I would hope it has, I can say that my photography style has improved especially in the last year. I've always written from the heart though, so I am not sure.
What is the most extraordinary thing that has happened to you because of blogging? Hmmm I think the most extraordinary thing that happened to me due to blogging was the fact that I found myself a SL mum of two kids - then three and now finally none LOL... Basically I was working for the shopping blog Seraphim, and one of the bloggers and I were joking around I said I was so much taller than her I looked like I could be her mum... Was the weirdest experience of my SL... Not one that I will be repeating again either LOL...
When it comes to Second Life blogs, there are different styles: Fashion bloggers, Lifestyle & Travel bloggers, Informative bloggers, and more. Which style do you prefer and where do you feel your blog fits in? I do love a good fashion blog, it makes my SL shopping experience seem a whole lot easier, like looking through a catalogue hehe... I also love to read the information blogs to learn new tips and tricks, as well as the lifestyle blogs that can make you laugh or cry... I have always said that my blog isn't fashion related, although no days I am talking about the things I buy more and more, but I'd have to say that my blog seems to be more of a lifestyle blog with fashion mixed in... Who knows maybe I will start working on travel soon too?!
What has blogging taught you? Blogging has shown me I should have a lot more confidence in myself and made me see that my opinions do matter no matter how many people they are reaching. I know I don't have the biggest blog reader audience in the world, but one small spark of an idea can grow at any time and I shouldn't be shy or ashamed of how I feel about things. I love sharing with people, I love trying to improve myself and I love the fact that here, on my blog I can do what I want... It took me a while to realise, but if people don't like what I am doing they can just turn off!!! Share your top 3 tips for new bloggers.

* There will always be someone that enjoys reading your opinions, never be shy to share them

No risks of Frostbite here!!!

Sometimes playing in the snow is fun, but I've always been a bit scared about falling over in RL... In SL that isn't too much of a problem LOL! Plus no matter what you wear, you don't feel cold or catch hypothermia or frostbite! SO I wrapped up warm, well mostly anyway if you ignore the fact that I didn't put tights on, and went out to play in the snow! 

It's weird, I seem to have done another one of those "look of the day"type thingies, but I'm telling you now it's a calm before the storm because the horror is coming!!! Horror Festive has started, The Witching Hour is also under way, and I am buried up to my neck in a huge heap of macabre goodness that will be coming your way very soon...
Most of the clothing is a mish-mash of things that were buried in my hoard... A skirt that was part of an outfit from Sn@tch, a sweater from REIGN and as a finishing touch an adorable little Orange Tabby from Atomic that you can win yourself at The Arcade! Hell won't let me have a cat in RL... I will wear one here in protest LOL...

Classroom Fantasies...

Time for something a little different hehe... I've been doing a lot of pretty and fantasy based photos lately, well this still could be fantasy, but of a very different kind hehe...
I'd bought something that just seemed like the kind of thing that would fit with my old RL school uniform... Being a Brit, we had to wear one and it was icky! Blazers, shirts and ties ALL YEAR! UGH! When I saw the sweater I'm wearing here, along with it's prominent white collar, I couldn't help but feel a need to wear it as an old school uniform lol... 
Just sorry if you aren't into this kind of fantasy role play, and you can thank me later if you are LOL... 

The sweater that caused all of the ruckus in my mind, and somehow made me end up in an RP sex school, is something that I had had stashed away for a rainy day since November... Sad November to be exact! I bought this Goth1c0 Skeleton Sweater on impulse whilst shopping there with my sometime shopping buddy Jimmy. He warned me that I would only use it the once, I aim to prove him wrong... It will be cute in the cold weather!
The rest of the outfit was just to make up the outfit, from old but much loved things in my hoard... Some adorable pigtails with a Devil headband from Ploom,  some dirty glasses from ellemeno - since I was in a sex school LOL - and a cute plaid skirt from Sn@tch, and I had a complete - but dirty - school uniform!! 
By the way, for the record, the ONLY thing I wore to school that was anything close to this look, is the black sweater LOL, the rest is all my dirty and depraved Barbie self lol...

Did you just say No?!

I have Horror Haute on the brain at the moment, purely and simply because there is so much good stuff within the line-up it's hard not too... That and I've been wracking my brain for their blogging co-ordination - but that's a story which I will have to keep to myself lol...
The theme this month, as I have said before, is Vampires... Being a Living Dead of the Zombie variety in my day to day SL, somehow becoming a vampire was a bit like shedding a skin and slipping into another dead one LOL - which actually sounds pretty gross, but as it's Halloween this week maybe I can get away with it?!
The weird thing is though, for some reason I just didnt want to go all out creepy looking, classic pale vampire... I tried to modernise the vampire look without going all Twilight, whilst still keeping my kookie style intact... I think I managed LOL!!!

Incorporating Horror Haute into the outfit I was wearing seemed the best idea, and to do that I just picked out - from the HUGE collection, most of which you can see in my investigative post previously hehe - a cute shade of black Czarny Kanarek lipstick, you'll have to excuse the traces of my lunch however.
The rest of my outfit is non-Horror Haute, but I was wearing it around at home and liked it enough to throw together what could be called a look of the day post! The hair, complete with it's HUGE bow, is a TAG Gacha release from SpellBound, available in many colours, I was lucky enough to win the white version! The outfit itself comprised of an old, but one of my favourites, pair of leggings from Sn@tch, and a brand new jacket from Razor called Cataclysm Tri-Jacket. I fell in love with this jacket as soon as I spotted it, it's biased cut, high-necked, has a lack of a back, but it just called to the biker chick in me and so long as I don't fall off and therefore can avoid the road rash, it will look perfect on the back of a bike!!
Lastly the pose I wanted to share is an older one but still great to use from elephante poses! Voodoo is something that although associated with this time of year, has no real Halloween connotations, does it?! I mean OK I know Voodoo is sometimes seen as a kind of evil, torture, especially with things like Voodoo Dolls, but Halloween does seem to have almost adopted the idea for it's own evil uses hehe...
