Is it all just a game?

I've been thinking about something since I had a conversation with a RL colleague about how Tim and I met in Second Life. She was curious and I explained to her about the Second Life world, what it's capable of and all of those wonderful things that can happen because of it... She was raving about the Sims, comparing the two and suggesting that she would be interested in coming to see what SL was like... She said she was looking for a new game, and I offered to help her out, but part of me was twitching about it being game... What are your thoughts?

I have thought long and hard about this topic for the past 20 ish years of being in Second Life. When I think of games I do think of things like board games or video games, I think of PC games like the Sims and world building games, but then do I still consider Second Life in the same way? 
For some it looks like a game... Creating a character, creating a world and living a life that is different from the real one, it's an escape and a chance to be someone you want to be... But is it a game, or is it more of a chat simulation programme? I've worked in Second Life in a Real Life job, I met my husband in Second Life and we've been married for 12 years now, and I met some people that I will keep with me always too... Does that make it a game or is it something different? Is it because I've been here so long now that I feel this way, is it still a game to the new inhabitants or is it really a place that's something different? 
What do you think?? I've been pondering this a lot today whilst going about my boring chores, I just want to know if I'm the only one that feels this way...

A Trashy Kind of Day!

I need to take a moment to send a message to anyone reading that I'm sorry for being a bit of a Debbie Downer at the moment... I'm trying to keep mysef swimming but at the moment I'm barely able to find the energy to doggy paddle so that my head stays above water... It's just a lot going on at the moment, I'm kinda done with the stress of living here - you may have already guessed this fact - and soon I'm going to be reaching 40 and all I want for my birthday is a cuddle from my mummy... I cannot get one... I feel icky and gross and want to hide away from the world... 

I have been so stressed and getting frustrated, but I think that I'm going to just hide away for a while... I'll curl up somewhere dark maybe in a place I belong, like in a garbage bin like a piece of Premium Trash - as the set that is aptly named from piXit - as it's where I belong since I got mad and ripped up poor lil teddy... He was only trying to comfort me... I feel so bad about it, but please don't come at me, your opinions of my grumpy mood can be left in the Opinion Bin beside me - a release from Krescendo, for this month's FaMESHed - and since I'll probably get bored sitting here, with no one to talk to now that teddy is toast I will read them shortly...

Go Away Cupid!

It's Valentine's Day but it's ben a long hard day for me at work and now I'm more than happy to curl up with a delivery pizza and an episode of the random crap that I am currently binge watching. Tomorrow is a HUGE day for us, tomorrow is moving day and we're both a little knackered but all will be OK and once we're moved things SHOULD calm down a little... I hope... For now though, I don't need any hearts and romance, all I want is a chance to curl up and get comfy... 

I'm so lucky that I'm done playing the Second Life Dating Game... Hell was someone I met in SL 16 years ago now and though we started as friends, I've been his RL missus for almost all of that time! I met him in RL as a friend, we parted ways as a couple and had a long distance thing for 6 months before he asked me to move in, not just his home but to his homeland... I'll never call myself Dutch, but here I am... 
The SL Dating Game - which in the picture happens to be a blaink backdrop - always felt like such hard work, and you hear so many things going round about people cheating and lying and causing drama to those that are looking for love... I often feel like it would be a lost cause for me if I had to try again, and I'd rather go on a TV dating show like the 1990's Blind Date with Cilla Black LOL... 
Still, Cupid - and his companions like those released from MishMish, available until March 6th at Collabor88 - needs to stay well away from me, I'm happy in what I got even though it's not perfect. I've been told the "Love is in the Air Spray" - from MIDNA  - is the best form of repellant against the little beasties...

Decorations Don't Go Quietly!

It's that most yucky of days after the Christmas festivities in my house today... I'm not sure if it's today or tomorrow that it's traditional to take down Christmas decorations but in our house, we took the decor down today. I was not looking forward to it, but it has been done, everything is ready to be stashed away again and things look dark and empty... 

It makes me laugh how we use the same things over and over and over again, I'm not one of those people that wants a pristine or chic looking Christmas tree, I LOVE it when things are colourful and mismatched and traditions that remain the same every year... I know, especially in times like this, I want things to be cozy and comforting... I dislike this darkness that has decended in my living room today... It's only going to get emptier as we prepare the house for our moving date... 
While stuffing things in to the old chests in the Attic, I made a little discovery... One of the Gingerbread men that had appeared in many of my posts over the festive period was REALLY not ready to return to his Spring/Summer/Autumn sleep, he got angry and tried to Choke Me Out - he's a festive release from Tardfish that I HOPE will still be available in the mainstore but let me know if I'm wrong please! - and well since he wanted to stay awake I'll just have to take his place for a long nap in a cosy old trunk...

The Last Day of November

Well Hi!!! It feels like forever since I had a chance to sit down and talk to you here... I've been such a busy girl in RL that eveerything seemsneglected and then I add to that the way my brain is fully and hurting, and I'm just tired... SO TIRED... Yet here we are, at the end of Novemeber and it doesnt seem hard to think it but how in the holy hell did we get here?! Pft, I guess it's time to try and get into the spirit of the Christmas Season... 

As Brit comedian, Michael McIntyre once commented, once December comes everyone starts discussing the "emotion of Christmassy", the feeling that we get for this festive holiday and I'm looking forward to the moment I get to make my announcement that "today I felt Christmassy for the first time" but right now I'm more interested in being a hibernating bear than celebrating Christmas LOL... 
Still I am going to make an effort, I HAVE to for my own mental wellbeing, and maybe a little Christmas sparkle will make life just that little happier... I've been busy in RL sorting things for the big renovation next year but that meant I was able to get my Christmas decorations out of storage... Is it just me or do we put the same little trickets and decorations out every year?! I cannot bear to spend a Christmas without them, each one is like a little trip down memory lane... A reminder of happy times and the sparkles of days gone by...

Sing Your Heart Out!

I hate days that I have to do chores around the house, although tomorrow my parents are coming over for a visit for a few days and I am really looking forward to seeing them. It does mean that I have to get myself motivate myself to get things done... I've put the music on loud and I'll be dancing around as I'm cleaning up, singing along to the cheesy pop blasting from my speakers... 

I love music, I love it live and loud better... I know some people ove Karaoke bars, I've done Karaoke once and I really had fun but I don't think that I'd want to do it again. I remember being dressed as a Rocky Horror character and getting up on stage with some of my roommates to sing the Time Walk! I don't think I'd ever be abe to do it again, and definitely not on my own... I'm far too shy, but Rudh definitely wouldn't let that hold her back... 
She got dressed up for a night out, stepped up on stage and belted out far too many cheesy songs, that the poor guy manning the Karaoke machine was very close to pulling the plug...

Who let the Cats in?

Being an Assistant manager SUCKS... While my boss is on vacation I've been drafted in to cover her role, and I'm working my butt off... So much so that I'm working ALL WEEKEND this week... I don't want to be working, I want to be doing the fun things like reading, taking pictures in SL or napping... A nap would be fantastic, but there is no rest for the wicked, and apparently I'm wicked... I will find a way to relax, even if I have to lock myself in a dark room and work on my pictures...  

Not sure if being in a dark room - which is a backdrop from blaink by the way - when all I want to do is nap, but maybe the smell of the chemicals will help me stay awake... OR Maybe they will knock me out?! I will have to make sure that I put my cameras down before I fall down and snooze... I've always got a camera with me in RL - something like the ones from Synnergy.Tavis which are a posed holdable - but never have I ever been in a dark room... 
I was enjoying myself and minding my own business, but my stomach was starting to grumble a little bit and as if by magic, HellBone appeared with a snack... Hoding the snack in his hand, as he opened the door, I didn't manage to get the "NOOOOOO" out before my cats all dashed into the room and started causing chaos... They don't even take time to Paws and Reflect - which is the gacha collection from Aardvark in which you can find all these kitties... Chaos ensues...

Free to a Good Owner

A day off, but I'm still kinda on tender hooks as I worry about will work things be ok while I'm not at work LOL... I'm nervous, but I have to get myself past this and let my mind relax properly... 
I've had to distract myself with something that some people might say is a little naughty... Some might even say that this is a LOT naughty... I always feel like I'm not good at blogging the naughty, but then again I tend to over think things when I should let them go... Maybe put myself into the hands of someone better suited to letting me feel stronger...

Amsterdamse Pride!

After three long days back at work, I am finally home and have a day off tomorrow... Amsterdam is BUSY this week... It's not tulip season busy but it's busy and that's because of the fact that this weekend is Amsterdamse Pride weekend. 
Amsterdam is a city that is proud of hosting the Pride events, they run all week and finish on Saturday with a boat parade through the canals!  

This, of course, means the city is rainbowfied... It has brought in some of the most friendly, most fun and most vibrant types of people. I honestly LOVE this week in the city, people that come for Pride seem much happier than those that come any other time of the year. Of course, there are always exceptions, but generally, it's a lot more fun working in retail tourism right now... Does help that I'm close to the Pride epicenter, if you're wanting gay clubs and bars in Amsterdam it's well known that you gotta go to the Regulierdwarsstraat! 
So on my day off tomorrow, I'm going to go out into the city and help paint the town in rainbow stripes, meet some lovely people and give out a few hugs to those that need an ally in their life... Happy Amsterdam Pride everyone!

Gittering at the Roller Disco

I need some happy, I want to let my hair down and dance, and although all I'm listening to at the moment seems to be Black Sabbath, I feel like it brings me to tears every now and again... 
I might have to switch it up and listen to something a bit more cheesy pop as I head into my last day of work... Tomorrow I have one more work shift then I am on holiday for a couple of weeks YAY... 

I feel like I want to go back into my past and one of those crazy fun Saturday nights that we used to go to at the youth rollerskating rink... It was nothing special as they just turned a sports hall into the rink by adding a DJ booth at one end and spent a few hours playing cheesy pop music... 
I feel like that's what I need right now, it's definitely feeling like that wil help me get through the next few days before I go home...

Chained Not Tied!

I am often influenced by the things going on around me... So far I've been to a Caribbean Beach because of a tv show I'm watching, and I've had lasagne because my hubby likes to cook it, but today is a little different from my normal picture wise... It's been a LONG TIME since I did something really kinky, but I guess the things that I read have filtered through my picture taking decision making, and I ended up doing something saucy... 

I've been reading a LOT of smut over the past year or so and some of it definitely sticks with me more than others... I've been collecting an array of book boyfriends, I've unlocked some new kinks that I've never even thought would cross my radar, and I've dived in to a lot of different plots. I love a grumpy/sunshine, I love aa forced proximity, and stalking masked men make me weak - of course I'd probably have a heart attack if it happened in RL lol because I am a wuss - but even though they haven't been my favourites some of these stories have stuck in the back of my mind... Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann is one of those stories about a girl and her sister's fiance trapped in a basement and forced into a horrible situation. That's been in my mind, it happened because I was trying to come up with a way to show off the amazing Chained Obsession - from Six Feet Under, available now at Kinky - and I think it turned out pretty much still beating hehe...

Do you like Scary Movies?

On days off I tend to love reading and taking pretty pictures in SL, I'm sure you've guessed all that by now, but my hubby is definitely MUCH more of a movie freak... I am not particularly a movie watcher. I have my firm favourites, I will get lost in my mind any time I watch the LOTR and Princess Diaries is my go-to make me feel better kind of movie... HellBone loves all different kinds of movies, Horror being his go-to... 

Watching movies these days is NOTHING like it used to be when I was in my teens or even early 20s. When I was a kid or even a teen, I remember nights when Mum and Dad said we could rent a video to watch from the local video shop. We didn't have a Blockbuster, but there was a local family owned video shop - a bit like the backdrop from blaink - but by the time DVDs were becoming a thing, the shop was beginning to close it's doors... 
I am NOT  a scary movie fan though, HellBone loves them and likes to terrorise me, making me watch them sometimes... Last time I jumped so much during a scary scene that I spilled my drink and dropped my dinner... Rudh got so scared in the video store today that she threw one of the slices of pizza that she'd stolen from the clerk on the desk...

A Gang of Trash Pandas

On my day off today I've been more than a little lazy. We had some news this morning that made me feel shell shocked and has left me hanging until we have more news... It's made me feel like a grumpy, cantankerous, old lady that wants to do nothing more than read her book and eat junk food... I'm not complaining, we're all allowed to have days like that, today is my day... 

Today I'm living my best life like a Trash Panda, and there will be no fucks given... 
I'm sitting around on the couch, though it may well be a wearable trash can - like the one from Junk Food - for all the mess I have around me. I'm piled under books, knitting and right now my laptop as I write my daily nonsense...

She was a Skater Girl...

Some days I love to be wild and creative, coming up with something from a fantasy that comes to life and sparkles from the screen... Others I feel a little more subdued and want to just try to play around with creating an outfit that makes me happy... It doesn't always have to be super creative for it to look good, and a simple look-of-the-day kinda picture is another way for me to step outta my comfort zone... 

I LOVE playing around with clothes and often find myself creating an outfit that I LOVE but never share in a blog post since I use them more as a basic every day outfit. I'll go out in public in it, but then for some reason even though I LOVE it, I never show it off on my blog... 
Today's look is no exception, I've been wearing this as my day-to-day look for about 2 weeks now LOL... It started with a release called Emme - from miss chelsea at the still running round of Equal10 - which includes the top and lace overtop, jeans and trainers. As soon as I pulled it on, it was like going back to my teens in the 2000s and that's why I've ended up at the skate park. I used to hang out in the skate park and watch the skaterboys...

Bucket List Blogging

Sometimes, you get that super random moment of total excitement that comes from no where, that you're totally not expecting and that blows your mind when it happens... When it comes to my Second Life since I'm totally  platform hermit at the moment this kind of feeling seems even more rare. Yet this morning, it happened... 
I logged in to a message with a blogger package attached welcoming me to a blogger team and I'm more than  little excited... 

I've been a blogger in Second Life for a LONG time now and have had MANY blogging sponsors, some I'm still with and others have long since gone. I've had invites from designers I appreciate and had to reject, I've had many, many rejections and each time I dust myself off and try again. There have been more than a couple that I'd refer to as my "Bucket List" stores - though I'll never reveal those in public in case I have the chance and jinx myself lol - but today logged into Second Life and had been accepted to blog for ASTEROIDBOX... When I say I nearly fell off my chair, I didn't actually believe it.I'd been accepted to blog for one of my bucket list stores... HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?! 
So today, my look is solely based on the new AsteroidBox release for Equal10 called "Adeline"... I cannot wait to see what crazy things I can do with all of the pretty things that they share and we get to show off for you... I'm like a kid in a candy store!!!

Hands to Assist in the Transplantation!

I've said it more than once, but then times when I'm making the darkest and most twisted of pictures I'm more often than not in the bestest of moods... I'm happy and I'm usually singing along to some cheesy pop song - today it was the turn of Five, who have reformed and I wasn't able to get tickets to see - but for some reason the darkest pictures happen... 
Today is of no exception, I was given a task to assist in the transportation of something gross and sticky... The real me had to take a look away, so I let the Living Dead Doll take over... She's not been out to play for a while, but she's the happiest little soul... 

So today she seemed to come prepared for the task at hand, and she's always a happy girl when it comes to being able to dig up the body parts from the still warm, freshly dead bodies... The Hospital - a backdrop in this case from blaink - is always in need of helping hands to assist with removal of body parts for transplantation and Living Dead Rudh definitely comes prepared with helping Ghostmage Hands - from Aii - and her Corrupted Hands - from Tardfish, available until March 31st at The Men's Department... 
After the removal of the fresh, still beating heart, she slipped it into the black Human Organ Bag - from Krescendo, currently available at BLACK FAIR until March 23rd - and all she had to do now was decide if it was to be delivered to the waiting patient or would it feed her demon friends for lunch...

Fight for Love

Sometimes I feel like I could get into the Valentine's spirit, others I'm as far from interested as any person ever could be... I DON'T feel like being sweet, romantic or anywhere near Valentineish today... I wanna kick someone's butt, I wanna be angry and violent and I'm not even really sure why... So my aggression will start here... I hear there's been some trouble down at the Tunnel of Love... 

As I arrived at the Tunnel of Love - which happens to be a backdrop by blaink by the way - there was no one waiting in line, which should have been my first major red flag... Signs were placed to warn me to be cautious - and well this Boutique #187 Tainted Love sign really summed up my mood, it was so hard to choose a slogan - but armed with a old handmade axe, I wandered through the gates and came face to face with the Mmmmecha 9000 bots - from Krescendo at Hentai Fair - the fight was on...

A Hot Coffee Break

Tis the season when things are getting darker and quieter and colder... I come out of work in the cold cheese shop, and the streets are dark and cold... I love nothing more than a nice hot cup of tea, or coffee, or hot chocolate to warm me up... If you've not tried the Dutch Chocolate Milk Brand that is Chocomel, you really are missing out...

So today on my way home from a lovely day out, I stopped to get myself a lovely cup of hot cocoa with a dash of peppermint from the vending machine at the station... Not sure this would ever be a thing in RL anymore, hot drink vending machines on station platforms, but I am sure I remember it when I was a kid in the UK - maybe I'm imagining it though... Not sure I'd want a hot drink from a vending machine on a station platform really, but think about how much it would be a good thing for those in need when things get cold...

A Kinky Little Doll

It's Saturday and I've been free today... I finished a book that's been stuck in my mind since I started it, and I think it MAY have influenced the post that I created today... You may have heard it somewhere, but lately I've been reading a LOT of Dark Romances and SMUT, and I LOVE IT - in fact I find getting through a book without it, somewhat hard going now too lol - but the last book I read was a twist on the Nightmare Before Christmas and I'm not sure how I feel about it... 

There is a lot of sex in this book, "Skeleton King" but it brought Rudh very much closer to one of the main characters. Sally, or Sarah as she is called in this version, is not a rag doll made of cloth but is someone more akin to Rudh in that her body is covered in scars. She's been cut up and roughly stitched so that her body looks like that of a dolls... Her body is cut, stitched and patched, but the scarring doesn't bother her... 
Since she's little more than Frank Finkle's sex toy, she gets used a lot, and well... Rudh has never complained about that either. Reminders of Seductions Past

Seduction is a dangerous thing. Second Life is often portrayed in a bad light, due to the press it's received and the inclusion in shows that made it out to be ful of catfish, stalkers and murderers... I try to defend this social platform whenever I can, but more often than not it's better not to waste your breath... 
There is some truth to the sexual side of Second Life, and although it's not as it's often portrayed in the media, there is definitely a smuttier side to our online community, one that can be fun if you dive into your kinks deeply enough... 

Since I've been married to HellBone I've been a very good girl but before him, I was a bit of a bad girl... Maybe more than a bit... A lot might be closer to the mark... I loved nothing more than to tease, and I was good at it too. Second Life was the perfect place to do that, to live out those little fantasies and enjoy the company of some very like minded people... I let my mind wander and my fantasies sore, with human avies and demonic ones, with kinks that were mine and those of the others involved... It changed me, and marked me for life... 
I'm showing off today, dancing for the boys aiming to Seduce and Destroy - thanks to the backdrop from blaink - but while I dance I'm reminded of those memories that matter.
