Well that's it, another year over and what a year it has been oh my gah... Where has the time gone?
I'm spending the evening at home with my gorgeous puppy (who I WILL post pics of I promise). Hell has had to go into work, they had the choice of Christmas or NYE off work, I wanted to go see my family at Christmas so there was no contest really!
So here I am, sitting at home behind my PC with my amazing friends in SL, Izzy sleeping at my feet and a glass of chilled pink beer! mmmm Pink Beer!
I just wanted to wish anyone and everyone an AWESOME evening in whatever they are doing and that I hope 2012 brings you all the happiness and rewards that you deserve...
AND OH MY GAWDDDDDDD TOMORROW IS DAY ONE OF THE NEW ROUND OF THE COLOUR CHALLENGE I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! Bring it on Miss Luna!
I love freebies, who doesn't? What's more I love finding random freebies on the marketplace that I wouldn't ever normally go I HAVE TO HAVE THAT, only as it is free would I find myself allowing one to join my warehouse inventory. This was one of those moments, I was browsing the marketplace looking for some random Christmas Freebies and came across this;
A CHRISTMAS TREE! Seriously there are so many things that had me laughing about this I simply had to share it, first and most obvious it is a CHRISTMAS TREE - I know you are now thinking DUH lol but had to be stated for the record lol... Second, look at the size of that thing, and the sack. I know SL exaggerates everything but SERIOUSLY, I know it should be on a male shape but compare that to the length of my arm, and don't even get me started on the sack! Third, Baubles and Star - nuff said! Plus this amazing Christmas Tree comes with a semi transparent version so you can see the freenis inside it!!!
Oh my gah I'm dying laughing here... Thank you Marketplace, you really know how to give me a good laugh, weird question is though would it make anyone be like "Oooh Christmas Tree", with those points on the star, I think not!
I'M BACKKKKKKKKK - that trip to visit my family in the UK is over and done with and to be honest it was a real wrench to pull myself away back to home in Holland. Still I think I might have to start counting down to my next trip which should be in March for my Daddy's 60th Birthday! Wonder if I can pull off organising a surprise party from here in Holland?? That would be a feat and a half that would! I had a fab Christmas though, got lots of awesome pressies from Santa, had some amazing times with my family and even came back with my not-so-ickle puppy Izzy (you might remember me talking about her in a previous post! I might even post a picture of her soon!)
Though I wanted to get straight back into the blogging spirit, I plan on doing more with my blog since I have been kinda neglecting it a bit recently, and the post that I choose to use as my I'm Back post is another photo that I worked on for my personal "Your Tunes" Challenge! This song happens to be one of my favourites, it was a moment that Lynnie and I both went "OH MY GOD YOU LIKE THIS SONG? I LOVE THIS SONG?", we seem to have such a matching taste on a LOT of things it is awesome!
THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE - IN THE DARK
Lynnie tells me that she loves this song, but there are no reasons as to why. I have to admit that I loved this song as it really kinda sums me up sometimes. I like a lot of people have a messy RL past and sometimes being "alone in the dark" is a feeling that washes over me, it is one that I try to blot out but it is always a murky water area inside my head. I block it out with rainbow cuteness a lot of the time, and SL is like the dreamworld where I can be what I want and forget all that murky water!
I kinda went with the imagery from the video for this picture, it sums up my image of the song so well in my head so it had to be the way that I went.
Sometimes a mirror is like a doorway to your inner thoughts I think, I mean when I look in the mirror I often find myself looking past the reflection, talking to my inner self and trying to sort out things in my head - it's at times when I look in the mirror that I find I give myself a good talking to... Mirrors are mean things sometimes lol!
Lynnie thank you for reminding me that I love this song and why I love this song... The Birthday Massacre had gotten lost in the back of my CD collection, it will be pulled to the front now, but WHO WILL BE ASKED NEXT?
I am going away today, will be home in England with my family for 5 days or so, but I had to just post this before I went MIA, I am already getting withdrawal symptoms from blogging! eeep!
There are two friends that I have made in SL who I hope will be there with me always, Fledge has become and will remain my big sister always! Today is her RL Birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLEDGIE if you read this!
Though this post is dedicated to Lynnieloo, who created a gorgeous holiday photo of the two of us that I simply had to share!
Lynnieloo is my best friend, someone who I have trouble getting through a day without talking to, someone who is always there no matter what to help me up when I fall - and trust me there has been a lot of that this past few months, and someone who makes me laugh like no other. Isn't that what best friends are for? Lynaja and I seem to keep magically finding things that we both love and neither of us knew the other loved, her song choice - which I am working on - proved to be the latest thing in the list, but everyday she makes me smile and being without her is, well, it's like losing one of my legs - I'd be all wonky! Worse than I am now!
So this one is for you Lynnieloo, how could I resist sharing this gorgeous picture, Happy Christmas Babe I hope you and Daizy have a great one, and I will be missing you every day so EMAIL ME DAMMIT hehe! *hugs*
I just wanted to send out warm hugs and lots of good feelings to all my friends and family, you all know I love you everyday of the year but Christmas seems to be a time when people say that with greater ease!
HellBone and I were coming home from a Christmas Party and he dared me to see which of us would chicken out first, unfortunately both of us forgot that sometimes you can in fact get stuck like this hehe, so hopefully we will be free at New Year! I say hopefully? Maybe Rudh will have caught pneumonia by then, in that outfit it is highly possible!!! LOL!!!
Happy Christmas or whatever holiday it is that you will be celebrating, I hope that it is a time full of peace, rest and good times... I will be spending it with my entire family at my parents house, we're even taking my mother in law so she isn't home alone at Christmas! Let the family fun commence!
Yesterday I had one of the biggest compliments paid to me and I am feeling both embarrassed and at the same time totally flattered that someone would go to this extent to pay me such a compliment and thank me...
Tis kinda a long story but to cut it all short, basically whilst I was working for Seraphim a while back I was contacted about being asked to promote a mini hunt in a mall by the manager of said mall. She was awesome and we seemed to find a banter unlike any other time I talk to someone regarding something to do with Seraphim. Normally I try to be kinda sensible as it's business ya know, but this time there was a little spark between myself and this person and things just flowed like I'd been friends with this person for ever! In the end, I helped to promote the event, and even got her to come and join in the Seraphim giving Thanks event. We stayed in contact and I have since helped her to promote the grand opening of her store Happy Face - a shapes store! To thank me she did something so awesome...
YES She named a shape after me!!!!! She did it with an i at the end as apparently she has a thing for i's hehe, but oh my gah this is so awesome! I have only had this honour once before, and that was in earrings made by Lynnie because I had helped her come up with the idea! I am totally flattered and, although I feel weird about admitting it, I am kinda embarrassed too as I didn't really do anything that I feel was worthy of this kinda honour! All I did was put up a post on a blog about a grand opening sale, it wasn't that hard and took me about 5 minutes tops!
So I am sharing this with you, maybe you want to go try on a Rudhi shape, or if you are in the market for a new shape Happy Face is having a sale until December 24th, all shapes are just 99L!!! Go check them out!
This time it proved to be a real test of my brain to come up with a photo for this that wasn't something straight out of the insane video! Certain members of the cast in this video must have been high on something - dunno if it was life or drugs or what, but when you see this video watch out for that scary blonde woman!
This week was the turn of my big sister, Fledge, or Fledhyris to use her actual name. Fledge knew exactly what song she wanted as soon as I asked her, and I will admit I knew the song but had no idea that the band were Men Without Hats - WHAT A COOL NAME FOR A BAND!
MEN WITHOUT HATS - SAFETY DANCE
Fledge says that she has loved this song since she first heard it on Top of the Pops - an English Music Chart show that was on the BBC for Millions of Years but now sadly is no more! The song has that happy vibe to it and Fledge told me that "the music, the daft video, the song lyrics - it always kind of makes me think of something wild out of faery", a song that always makes her want to dance!
So I took the randomness of the video and had a think about things. I remembered back when I was a kid that was obsessed with dancing in a variety of forms and the picture just took off from there!
I took the idea of dancing and put a Rudhish twist on it, 4 well behaved Rudh's having to deal with the crazy one! I even borrowed an anvil from Wile.E. Coyote to deal with the crazy, so much for safety dance huh? Who knew ballet could be such a dangerous dance style - I mean of course there could always be injures, I felt them enough when I was younger, but ANVILS?
Thank you for the song choice Fledge, was good to listen to this song again hehe, where to next though?? Who knows?! Wait and see!
Palaeo-anthropology has NOTHING what-so-ever to do with my outfit this week, or the location even, yet it is something that has taken hold of my interest AGAIN! If you don't know, I went to University to study archaeology, as it is a subject that has always fascinated me. I always believed in the fact that if we don't know where we came from, how can we ever know where we are going, and I believe that children should know about their history - not just recent history either, I am talking way, way, way back into history. One of my favourite studies at Uni was the study of ancient humans - which is actually the definition of Palaeo-Anthropology although anthropology tends to be an American term as we'd refer to it as Archaeology in the UK more often than the former term. I was always fascinated by the subtle changes to the skeleton, and the way you could reconstruct a face, or the imaginations about early human life. Don't get me wrong I think the well documented periods are great too, can't beat a finding a bit of Roman Glass, or a Medieval something or other, but Pre-history is all about what-ifs and what-could-bes and there is no written record so who knows what it is... Anyway, my inner history geek is showing (we all get passionate sometimes, I just get passionate about history!)...
The store chosen this week has to be one of my store crushes! Ploom is always on my stopping list if I want hair, and the skin that I wear full-time now is a Ploom skin too, I am not ashamed to admit it, I am a Ploom whore hehe! What can I say, I just think that it is a Plooming Marvelous store hehe!
This Friday in RL, I will be able to collect my new glasses! I have had my old pair for coming on 10 years now, oh my gah that long, I was in my final year of secondary school about 15 or 16 years old when I got the pair I wear all the time, and they are really starting to show many signs of wear! Just the other day one of the supports that helps them sit comfortably on my nose broke off, and they are really looking old, so just in time for Christmas, Specsavers have come to the rescue!
Then when I had ordered them, and had my eyes tested with the whole reading off the funny chart deal - you try doing that in a different language by the way, Dutch and English Vowels are kinda mixed up in their pronounciation, I was getting totally confused!
Rudh was getting jealous however, she wanted some new specs too... So look at the AWESOME Specs that I found for her!! They would so clash with the most awesome hat in the world, but I bet they are the kinda specs that someone like Elton John would love to have in his collection! LOL...
These awesome little specs do not come from Specsavers, though really I think they are missing a trick there! They are from the cute little store that is Razzberry Inc - I think they may have been made for a child avi, but in all fairness Rudh is just a big kid lol! Hope that in all the cold weather, they dont get all Frosty and freeze up LOL!!!!
I had so much fun getting to grips and playing around with photoshop whilst I was making the last picture for this personal little challenge of mine. If you don't remember I am flying solo and continuing alone on the song challenge that was started by Shay all those months ago, I wanted to continue the challenge for my own personal improvement skills wise and so I have created a second picture to go with a song. I really don't have any idea as to how often these song pictures will be created, it will just be done as it happens, lol.
This week I turned to one of the most important men in my life, HellBone. I asked him to pick a song, any song and the first that came into his head was his favourite song ever...
JUDAS PRIEST - PAINKILLER
Before I came along, Hell had been through some rough times in regards to his RL, and he would always turn to this song as his "painkiller". Hell is a true metalhead that, I will admit and possibly get told off for, has a tendency to only listen to metal. His love of heavy rock is backed up even further by the fact that if you walk up the stairs in our house he has a collection of bass guitars hanging up ready for use! (Does kinda worry me sometimes that we have 2000 euros worth of guitar hanging over the stairs and I have a habit of falling up the stairs and will grab out at whatever I can find to hold myself up!!!)
My photo is a complete opposite from last week too, which was by total accident by the way, I felt the song had a somewhat Demonic edge hehe, the giant needle is the painkiller - wasn't that obvious?! The background that I used is something called "The Door to Hell", which was the site of a drilling plant for natural gas at which an incident occured meaning that the gas had to be dealt with by being set light to and has now been burning for 40 years! Check out the details here, and maybe this is an actual doorway to Hell?
What song will I work on next? Who will be asked next? Keep watching to find out!
I FREAKING LOVE THIS HAT - It is the World's Most Epic Christmas Hat!
The hat is called "Grandpa's Revenge" and comes from the store Fiction and Chaos, as a gift in the hunt "A Very Rotten Christmas Hunt". This is 35 stores of Rotten Christmas Style goodies - I ran around this hunt in no time, it was short and sweet and the goodies were awesome, but I think this is like one of the best hint prizes I've had in a long time! I love, love, this hat!!!
If you were wanting to check out this hunt, there are a list of clues and SLURLS on the A Very Rotten Christmas Hunt.
I am sad, the Blog Hero challenge being run by Shay has kinda dried up, just seemed to stop after the 16th week and after talking to Shay she said that it may come back in 2011, but as I really enjoyed working on that challenge due to the fact it allowed my creativity and my imagination to run riot while I tried to match an image in my head to a song and then actually make that image come to fruition in a SL Photograph and so I have decided that I will carry on with this challenge as a personal challenge to myself, as I love music and want to try and get better with creating pictures. I find myself looking at some people's blogs and thinking why the heck can't I do that, and you know I probably could I just need practice - hence Your Tunes = PRACTICE!!!
Now I don't want to cheat and just do songs that I love or work by bands that are on my playlists, so I will be randomly asking people to pick a song, ANY song, and oh god as I'm typing this I already kinda regret it hehe! You never know when I might ask you, so be aware, it could happen NOW, or NOW, or NOW! Can be anything, no specific genre, no specific time or musician, can be rock, pop, classical, hiphop, dance, tv theme music, I just hope that I can find it on YouTube LOL!!!
But for the first time round I get to pick a song, hmmm where will I go with this...Well I could go down the rock route, but I will reveal to some of you (some of you know already) my dark secret - I have an ecclectic music taste by the way... lol...
TAKE THAT - RULE THE WORLD!
One of my favourite songs EVER, by a band that I have been in love with since I was 8 years old! This song the official soundtrack song to the movie Stardust, it brought my mum to tears of happiness at a concert and it is one of those songs that I just love the words of - even if Gary Barlow does pull some REALLY funny faces when he sings and Mark Owen does dance like an embarassing dad at a Disco!!!
So my photo to go along with this song is the angel in Rudh, a giant celestial body and the world, I think it kinda fits, though if it doesn't fit I still loved just spending hours listening to this song as I was working on the picture hehe!!! What do you think of my favourite song? It always makes me feel good, and as of NOW you never know when I might ask you to name a song... Beware!!!
OK so sometimes people might think that I am making the random plucked outta the air words up, but I am not... I found a website containing lists of unusual words beginning with every letter of the alphabet as I was doing this challenge and so the words come from there, if they made them up it is a different story lol!
This week though, as I was scanning the list of O words, I came across the word Ocreate which apparently means wearing leggings and/or boots. Well HELLO, that sounds like both Rudh and the RL me a lot of the time at the moment, I never leave the house without my boots on in RL and Rudh is normally wearing either or, so the word just had to be one I used, and it will definitely be my word of the week, "Today I will dress in an ocreate outfit" lol does that even make sense??
But anyway, this outfit I pulled together this week, really doesn't actually look like the usual me, I think it might be due to the skin but I can't work out why, any ideas please let me know, but on to the picture!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
What O's did I pull outta my closet this week;
Hair: Magika - ONE Skin: Grixdale - OUCH! Necklace: Kosh - Wise OWL Necklace Dress: ..✗Shush ✗.. - OPEN DRESS Leggings: OVAL - Leggings001 Boots: (Shiny Things) - OLD BOOTS
The location of this photo is a store called Oddment. This store, if you have never been here, is a great little store, it is one of those gems of a store that you don't find very often. It has all different kinds of goodies inside from pretty and interesting planting to make-ups to home decor, and I love it... Sorry that the background is a little blurry though, it will make it more of a surprise if you go in there, but it is definitely worth a look!!!
Two years today since Hell and I met in RL and started dating! What had originally been two friends that hung out and helped each other through some of the worst trials and tribulations, through DJ sets to an empty club and even your singing, kinda accidentally we became something more - although I kinda think that you planned the whole thing by asking me to come and see Marilyn Manson as you knew I love him and just "happened" to have a spare ticket hehe!!!
I have to say that I am glad that you stuck around in SL even though you were on the verge of leaving, I really have someone to thank for that even though I doubt I'll be talking to her anytime soon - she will start asking for child support again for the twin cabbage patch dolls that you were the father of LOL!
2 Years Later!
I never would have been one to say that SL relationships could work, I'd been through so many guys that even I was starting to lose count, but then we found each other and maybe as we started something outside of SL it made us different, but SL does bring people together into relationships that actually work! I have seen the proof, I wake up next to it every day and without you Helly things wouldn't be nearly so good as they are! We're going through the trials and tribulations still, but we're doing it together now and you're stuck with me... I love you HellBone Barbosa, you crazy Dutch, wannabe caveman, biker, metalhead you! Thank you for the last two years, here's to many more!
I have to say that I can get overly excited about the holidays, Halloween had me dressing like something dead for at least 2 weeks prior to the holiday itself, and that Christmas feeling is starting to take control of me now too! December always makes me feel Christmassy, though I think I am most excited about the fact that we - Hell and I - are going to visit my family for a while! It won't be a long stay, but as Tescos always say "Every Little Helps!"
Thing is though the festive spirit has been alluding me, tomorrow is December 1st and I wanna be feeling a little festive before I open my advent calendar that my mummy sent me from England with CADBURY's CHOCOLATE!! You have NO IDEA how hard it is to have that sitting there and resist the temptation to open it all at once, but I have to be good or Santa will put me on the naughty list hehe!
I did, however, find something that started the festive feeling off... The ZombiePopcorn Dark Magic Winter Fair starts today, I've been lucky enough to be allowed early access - a privilege for bloggers that is totally new to me, made me feel kinda weird as I was thinking but all I do is put ad pics on a blog with details about the items, nothing special - and it is AMAZING! Like something straight out of a fairytale, and so Christmassy at the same time, I found myself getting lost in the alleys between the chocolate box houses and humming Christmas songs (which may or may not have gotten on Hell's nerves a bit?), and it made me think YAY I found that festive feeling!!!
I was going to put together an outfit out of the exclusives that some of the designers had put out for the event, each store has to have at least one exclusive, but I figured that it would be more fun to just post a teasing picture of the location, something to wet your appetite and make you wanna run down to the event...
Though that might be a bit mean of me, so as I am feeling the Christmas Spirit, I would never normally post a link to Seraphim in here, that's work this is my own ramblings, but just this once here is a link to the post I created for Seraphim to showcase the exclusives (as we're official sponsors for this event I think it is kinda in my job description to share it hehe) - a link to Seraphim's post for ZombiePopcorn Dark Magic Winter!
Neglected... Yup that about sums up certain things this week! I have neglected my blog for a WHOLE WEEK NOW, I am such a bad blogger! OK, so I have been blogging on Seraphim like a crazy demonic blogger, but people actually wanna read that, so that is why it has been getting more of my attention. That and the fact that I kinda seem to have run out of ideas as to what to post about here for the time being - I could start taking photos of outfits that I put together, a lot of people seem to post Look of the Day type deals, but I am a bit loathe to start that. My personal blog definitely wasn't supposed to be solely about Fashion, though I think there may be a post going up soon about one of my new favourite stores, simply because I LOVE the outfit that I pulled on and don't want to take it off lol!!! It will be able to walk away before I change dammit lol, luckily we don't sweat in SL huh? Plus the Blog Hero Challenge seems to have dried up, though I might carry that one on alone as I loved doing it! Maybe I'll let anyone who reads this pick my songs or something lol, bit of a personal challenge... We shall see! OH the reason I'm posting today... ALPHABET TIME!
The store I have chosen may well be fairly familiar to anyone who reads this post, it is N-Core! I LOVE shoes, I have over 2000 pairs in SL and could technically rival Imelda Marcos! Thing is though, I am a bit bad when it comes to shoes, I love them, it is kinda an addiction and so I buy them but then they sit in my shoe closet and never get worn *facepalms*... Still SHOES ARE AWESOME!!!!
I am missing the colour challenge *pouts*, I know that there are so many other things worth blogging out there but I miss the camaraderie and the thrill of wondering what colour will be in-store for us time around. It will sound weird to anyone that wasn't a part of the challenge the first time round but it is like I am having to go cold turkey. I know that I can get it again soon but getting my next fix won't be for a little while yet!
Is it only me counting down the days? I am so excited and have a calendar countdown already!!!!!!!
Yes Me, I want to be all about Me today... I've been busting my ass for Seraphim all weekend, been getting like a bit of a blogging machine over there yet my poor little rambling blog is all alone! Well today I managed to say nuh uh I'm taking a break, I posted way too many events this weekend and now I am able to sit back and give my ramblings some time they deserve!
It's Alphabet Time in Rudhland, and today is being brought to you by the letter M! Mmmmmmmmm lots of good words start with M, including queen of all words Moist! (King of all words is Plinth, LOL thank you Miranda Hart)
The location for this photo is Magika, though I did take this picture a while back before it's owner gave the store a make-over. I have to say, I hear people saying that they don't like Magika hair yet I think that it is one of my favourite brands hair wise. I love how the big fringes sweep over my face and they seem to give my face a very feminine frame. Though looking at it now this skin makes me look kinda masculine, it gives me a very manly jaw! Almost Drag Queen style!
I love the fact that Hell has a name that is basically made for wordplay, there are so many different things that sound funny when I refer to my other half as his SL name, I'll leave it to your imagination at just how many statments sound funny, but this time I played on it as it was a joke aimed at Hell that had Lynnie and I in stiches.
Basically, he had asked Lynnie to help with his store, he was wanting to update his store's look, and as Lynnie is such a kick ass builder and had just finished a mammoth make-over on her own store he asked her and she agreed...
It didn't seem to take her very long at all, but what she did was just so funny I had to share it with you.
The first store she tpped Hell and I to was a store that looked like this,
I knew about the fact she was going to be doing this in advance, but seeing it rezzing it looked more hilarious than I first thought it would. All the pink and the hearts, and OH MY GAH HELL's FACE, it was one of those pictures that you wish you had a camera for. I couldn't of course I didn't wanna give the game away that I knew! Hell's jaw his the desk and then he said to me "Is she joking?" Meanwhile Lynnie was telling Hell she was trying to help him reach a new market, there are so many gay people out there in SL that this will be a new market for you type conversation, I could barely contain my giggles.
After a while she put Hell outta his misery and showed him the new store build,
but for those few minutes I nearly exploded with laughter, I needed that and after the week I'd had it was like medicine!! Thank you to both Lynnie for creating the laugh of the year and to Hell for being so adorably gullable lol... love you both!
First off before I start with my ramblings, I think I am at least one letter ahead of everyone else taking part in the alphabet challenge at the moment. I just post one a week, but most other people I've seen seem to be somewhere back around J? Oh well I'll just keep posting my one a week until it's done!
So this week I am at L, and I went for my word of the week being Ladylike... Now I know what you're thinking, I can see it working through the cogs of you're minds, but you are just too polite to say anything. Heck I'm even thinking it too... "Rudh and Ladylike are a combination that does not mix!" See I said it, and to be frankly honest with you it is true. Normally Rudh wears "hankies" (a direct quote from Fledge) for skirts and low cut tops, not always a combination of the two, but definitely one or the other!
So you see when the L idea came around and I had found the dress I wanted to wear, something totally elegant (which is still strange to me to see Rudh wearing) and I was looking for a store, I knew how to get my skanky, scantily clad, "normal" style in the photo. My location this week is the store LUCK Inc, or Linc as it is sometimes referred to. Linc was the first store that I went to back when I started dressing in my urban grunge skankish way and I have to give them props for making my favourite pair of jeans too.
He knows who he is, and I am sure that people may well be able to guess, especially when I tell you that Poffertjesporum is Dutch!
Every language has some crazy words or phrases that when you translate them into another language they will always sound on the borderline of ridiculous!
Poffertjesporum proved to be one of those that I couldn't stop laughing at when I heard it's translation. The first time I heard the word used, Hell was in a particularly pissed off mood and was cussing at someone or something, when he said it, it sounded rather harsh but that might have just been due to the tone of his voice at that time. Later I asked him what it was, I'm trying to learn the language - I have to ask about everything, and he said that it was a cuss word, or rather something you would call someone as an insult, but the translation had me rolling about laughing. It's a word he will NEVER be able to use at me in anger, I just break out into hysterical laughter everytime he tries to use it in anger...
POFFERTJESPORUM = PANCAKE FACE
How the heck is that supposed to be taken seriously now I know what that means? In our house it has become like a pet name for each other, we call each other that in a play fight and it still cracks me up! It definitely makes some of our British insults seem really... well, really harsh! Though on the other side of things I've been reading a website recently called Stuff Dutch People Like (which has also had me in stitches because I see this stuff going on everywhere!) that mentions how sometimes Dutch people will cuss using diseases! It baffles me what other cultures are used to, but I love the fact that the world is so much more connected and we can learn all this stuff more easily...
As for now, hope you enjoyed reading my blog post, all you pancake faces out there (LOL!)
I know that is normally a reference to New Years Eve/Day, but this time it feels apt to use it about the make over that Rudh has recently undergone.
I am kinda lazy when it comes to changing things about Rudh, I know a lot of people have multiple skins, shapes and eyes, but I tend to put Rudh in one skin and one set of eyes as her "normal" look, only ever changing either when I am dressing up. That might sound boring to some people, but it is the way that I have always done it with Rudh, giving her a make over once a year if that. The last skin seen on Rudh was from (red)Queen and I had worn it for around 2 years, yet I felt it was the right time for a change!
So yeah, that is the Rudh that has been around for the last two years, many of you will have only known her looking like this. Her skin is rather tanned, with evil looking dark eyebrows and naked lips that I have been known to wear lipstick on the vast majority of the time recently! Her eyes have changed recently, they are from negaposi and are the mint colour from the silent collection. However, both her skin and eyes have been changed in the last few days and it is something that I am still getting used to...
She's now wearing a skin by Ploom. OK so Ploom isn't one of those stores I instantly think of when I think about buying a skin, but the face is just so pretty, it is much more feminine than the (red)Queen skin I wore before, and I decided to go paler tone wise... She also got the gift of some gorgeous, if darker than she is used to, eyes... Lynnie spoilt me and bought me a couple of the most gorgeous eye sets from FASHISM, we stuck with the green colour but the dark tone with the pale skin and the dark hair struck me as the look I want to go for with Rudh.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Remembrance Day has always been important to me, as a Living Historian and an Archaeologist, I love History, I love looking back to how things used to be and feeling thankful for what we are able to do today, and I feel honoured that so many people have laid their lives on the line serving their country. Today I turn my attention back to pay respect to not only the military but to the civilians who were the last to ever have to be strong enough to face war on their own backdoor steps... The Poppy has become an emblem in England as a sign of Remembrance, poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilt in the war.
So today, I wear Poppies in the form of this gorgeous dress from Vita's Boudoir, I'll be having my own little two minutes silence today as I always do on the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month, and say Thank You!
As you may well know by now the colour challenge is well and truely over for this round (although it is coming back in JANUARY yay!), but yet things are still being done in the name of 52 Weeks of Colour. This time it was the turn of the gorgeous miss Kaelyn Alecto to create an idea, one that she called "Rainbows for Luna", and I have to admit I thought it was a fantastic idea!
The idea was that we made a rainbow outfit and shared our thanks to Luna - well I know I have been saying it a lot but you can never say it enough. So, Luna, this post is for you. It is to say thank you for creating the colour challenge, I was a newbie blogger back then and can see how far I have come both as a blogger and as a photographer. I actually play around with things like wind light settings now, before I wouldn't have had much of a clue! I've also got a much bigger and much more varied wardrobe - not that the wardrobe itself would ever thank you - but the colour challenge and so by default you have helped me with more than you know!
So I created a Luna Corona, the scientific name for the rainbows that are sometimes visible as rings around the moon, with Miss Luna in mind!
Then, because I am crazy, I couldn't stop there... I went on and made 5 outfits following the list of colours that we were presented each week by Luna. I made 5 outfits, and so the last two outfits have to include 11 outfits each. THIS WAS HARD and OK I ended up looking like a bit of a train wreck but it was SO MUCH FUN lol I couldn't stop laughing!
I LOVE the way these worked out!! LOL I look like a train wreck, but YAY that's the fun of the pics!!!
Trying to make myself sound clever, but really I kinda cheated. I wanted to see if I could try learning a new word for each alphabet post letter, and so when I looked online I found the word Kalology! Apparently, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but the work Kalology means a study of beauty, and this is something that I feel links particularly well with SL and SL blogging. Blog posts that I read regularly show of beauty in many, many forms - be it beautiful avatars wearing beautiful clothing, or beautiful minds creating beautiful photos, it is an ever present feeling that shows through in EVERY POST that I seem to have read recently. No place has shown to be more involved with Kalology than the Colour Challenge group... I miss you guys already!!!
The location of this picture has very recently, I mean like yesterday, changed it's layout creating a HUGE store (one that is currently running a 50% off sale I might add!), KOSH. KOSH has and will most likely always be one of my favouritist stores in SL, and one that I can say is a go to store. I go here if I need furniture, or jewellery, or make-up! There is such an eclectic mix here, that you are bound to find something to suit your taste, and so finding a K location for me really was the easiest task this week, hehe!
Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...
November 5th is a traditional event in the history of the England. On the 5th November 1605, Guy Fawkes was found guilty, along with a number of his conspirators, of trying to blow up the houses of Parliament in London. For his crime he was given what could have been one of the worst forms of execution, Hang, Drawing and Quartering (basically the guilty party was hanged almost to the point of death, emasculated, beheaded, disemboweled and then cut into four pieces). In the years after this it was customary for the King and Parliament to commission a sermon about remembrance, hence remember, remember.
In England, this is still remembered (though not sure if everyone knows WHY) with fireworks, bonfires and the burning of Guy dolls that children make out of old newspapers and clothes.
Rudh is watching a display of fireworks, in the way that I do in RL, if I am forced to go see them (I don't really like fireworks, I blame my parents, LONG STORY!) Though I love a pretty sparkler, so I hope I can get some this year... IN FACT I KNOW I HAVE SOME IN A DRAWER!!!! YAY! I plan on celebrating it with a dinner that makes you feel all snugly and warm, and then some pretty sparklers (only wish I had my family around too! - sorry been feeling kinda homesick!)
As a final homage to the first round of 52 Weeks of Colour Challenge, Luna has set another task for the challengers... This time it was not a colour we had to pick a look for but we were asked to pick out our 15 favourite weeks! OK, I sat looking through my photos, I asked Hell for his opinion, I looked some more, I ummed and I awwed, and I have to say that THIS was MUCH HARDER than the challenge itself!
I love how my take on the challenge twisted though, at the beginning it was just pretty outfits that I was looking for, but gradually I found myself on a slippery slope into my dressing up box and by the end I was dressing as something crazy every week... Ya know what though I CAN'T WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN!!!
My photo abilities have changed a lot too, the first photo looks really bad when I look back on it... I guess I have to say Thank You again to Luna for the challenge as it helped me be a better blogger all round!
I call this collection, my 52 Weeks of Colour pictures, "A Dress-up Box in the Attic", it made me feel like a kid again being able to hide in the attic and play with fun costumes, hehe, hence why I did it every week!
But anyway, I did the soppy post last week and now I know that the challenge will be back I am so excited. Normally about this time of year I would be getting excited about Christmas coming, about going home to see my family... NOW I'm like forget Christmas BRING ON JANUARY 1st!!!! YAYYYYY!!
My Favourite 15 Weeks:
Looking back up through those I really look like I could become a crazy cat lady in the future?! EEK! *hugs to all the amazing people I have met through this challenge*
This week's song takes me back to my school days, in 1998 when the song was released I was 12 years old, and I think that I was a bit misguided, I actually bought this single LOL! I think this was my first and last foray into anything relating to "Europop", as I was drawn back to the dark side of the rockers hehe!
Anyway, hiding my shame behind a very large brick wall,
Week Sixteen's Song... Eiffel 65 - Blue
I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...
This has to have been the easiest song yet both in terms of the lyrics that Shay chose and also the idea that came to mind, the song says "I'm Blue", I always and instantly again, thought of the smurfs! Pretty obvious huh? I was just playing around with this picture, the first attempt made my eyes hurt as it was all negative and fuzzy, but then I hit on this picture, slightly blurry but kinda spooky in the Smurf Village, Smurfellowen (that's me) is taking a stroll through the village!! Lynnie said it looked kinda spooky and maybe there were Zombie Smurfs. I wonder, if a Zombie Smurf tried to eat your brain how long it would take before you actually felt it, I mean Smurfs were supposed to be kinda tiny right? So would it be like a mosquito bite?? One of life's most thought provoking conundrums that!
J is for Jocund... My new word of the week, Jocund... I have never heard it before, and maybe that makes me sound a bit uneducated or something, but I was having a mental block this morning whilst trying to think of J words! It is amazing what you can find on the web these days, the lists of J words are ENDLESS!!! I was thinking that I would say J is for Jared Padalecki (mmmm Jared), but I didn't want Hell to get grumpy LOL!
Anyway, Jocund apparently means cheerful or high spirits, and to me it really fits with the way I feel about Halloween... Nothing makes me more excited than a holiday I love lol so Halloween makes me feel Jocund (so does looking at Jared btw lol)...
For the location I will admit I cheated. I couldn't find anywhere that I was madly in love with and wanted to rave about for my J place so I chose a colour instead... Jade... Jade reminds me of my travels around New Zealand. I fell in love with the country and the people, and it is somewhere that I would love to visit again, though the 24 hour flight really does put me off... When will they invent TPing in RL??
Oh and BTW, if people don't know who the Jared is, google him, he's VERY YUMMY lol!
Most of you that read this know by now that I love Halloween, and I also love dressing up... The fact that the two things can be combined is just totally awesomely fantabulous for me, and there are SO MANY gorgeous gifties being given out by stores that I am in Halloweeny Heaven!
I don't ever normally think about showing things off fashion-wise on my blog, I never really wanted it to be a fashion blog, I don't have a set style or anything like that I just wear what I like normally, though occasionally I find something that I feel is worth talking about, something that makes me squee in excitement to see it...
That's one of the reasons I made this picture,
First off the excitement is for two key components of this picture, one being the puff on my shoulder and the other being the skin! Secondly, I took this picture and was like WOAH I LOVE THIS PICTURE!
The Puff on my shoulder is one of the Pygmy Puffs from Ohmai Emporium. I'd wanted one of these for AGES as I had been seeing these on blogs everywhere, people were taunting me with them! Lynnie found them today and sent me one, that was it we were both there going for the whole lot! I got a set with a little help from Lynnie (actually it was a lot of help)! The skin is the other thing that had me in fits of gimmegimmegimme, this is part of a set of Sugar Skull skins that are being given out for Halloween as a dollarbie at KOSH! It comes in three different colours - there is a green and red version too, and weirdly enough I wear the purple one, I never wear purple!! Like NEVER! I fell in love with the sugar skull patterning on the face as normally you see it completely coloured, this was a new take on it for me and I was drawn to it! How pretty!! It won't be a dollarbie for long so get it while you can, and hurry the store is closing for a refurb on the 1st!!!
Gosh that is a horrible title to write, and I guess the time has come to take my fingers out of my ears and let the tear roll down my cheek as the end of the challenge is upon us. For the last year, I've been getting up on a Saturday full of excitement to see what colour we are working on next. I have to say that when the challenge first started I was still a novice blogger, since then I have found skills that I never knew I could find both as a blogger - leading me to find a job I love in SL working for Seraphim - to being able to get creative in photoshop. I've dressed up as things I would never have thought of and have discovered that my love of dressing up can stretch beyond costume parties into my everyday SL... I have also met some of the most amazing people just by reading their blogs everyday. To those fabulous bloggers, I wanted to say you have all made this last year a brilliant ride, you never stop amazing me with the beautiful looks and photos that you create and I will continue to enjoy reading your blogs every morning with my coffee, even if it does make my inventory hate me!!! To Luna, thank you, there is nothing more to say, you've been the reason that I carried on blogging as I may have given up a long time ago if it wasn't for the challenge, you've helped me to find skills and meet amazing people... You really are like a honeypot bringing all the bees together... Thank you!!! *BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE*
Still before I cry too much, on with the colour hey?
Week 52...
