Snow in January - Second Life Calendar 2017
While I was perusing through Flickr yesterday, I found a challenge that appealed to me, and well I've been looking for a good challenge for a while so I thought YAY!!!
This is a Calendar Challenge... Now I'm not sure if we're supposed to create a picture every month for a year, BUT that's what I'm planning to do with it hehe. Lead by hostess Romyka Mars, the challenge is a Flickr group called "Second Life Calendar 2017 (Challenge), and all you need to do is share your calendar pictures to this group... To create the Calendars, Romyka has given us a link for a Photofunia Website, and it's really easy to do! All you need to do is take a pretty picture, load it up into the calendar then BOOM YAY!
Sounds simple, sounds fun right?!
January is always one of those cold wintery months when the festive glow of Christmas is over and the dawn of a new year starts. Resolutions are made and broken, and the weather is still at the right temperature that snuggling under blankets and vegging on the sofa is a requirement not a sign of laziness!
Let's have some fun facts about January, shall we?
Named by the Romans for Janus - the God of Gateways - who could look in two different directions - the old year and the new year - because he had two heads, January is actually a month that seems pretty unlucky. It's a month when more couples separate or divorce than any other month of the year! With a garnet birthstone and the flower of the month being the carnation, this is also the shoppers paradise month as the January Sales take place in many countries of the world!
Now let's talk about this month's calendar picture, I've decided to share a larger version of the picture that I used so you can see things a bit more clearly!
This is one of those cute outfits that is again, a bit impractical in the snow, but hey who gets cold in SL lol... I love these Distorted Boyfriend Jeans from villena - available until January 10th at the latest of Kustom9 - and they go so well with the adorable sweater from Vinyl, not forgetting this Beenie and huge hair combination from Besom.
It may still be cold outside, but at least that gives SL addicts like myself a reason to stay in doors where it's warm hehe!

Stapling the Scars
A new year always feels like a new start, and this year like many other years that have passed I've set myself some resolution-like goals. I've mentioned one before in the post that I wrote yesterday, but there are lots of things that I want to achieve this year and I'm trying to start out optimistically!
So new year, new start, moving on forward and hoping to maintain an inner peace, I have decided that it's time to do a little revamping of things as far as Rudh is concerned too... Not yet ready for a huge change - a Bento anything for example - perhaps it's finally time to delete all the system layers and reorganise my once neat but now looking like an explosion in a clothing store inventory back to the way it should be.
Going to start with something easy - a new Profile Picture!!!
I love those plain and simple pictures that I tend to create for my profile, so I've decided to do another one. Somewhat gorey I know, but hey I'm a living dead doll right?! I know that I'm not always totally dead looking but I cannot help it when it comes to creating a profile picture, I'm drawn to that side of myself LOL...
I went to town on wounding myself this time... The scars of the last year are still in the process of healing and soon my headshot may be a little different. The scars that mutilate my one pretty face are a part of a "Shattered Existence" - playing on words with the name there lol - from last year, and what was once CURELESS & DISORDERLY - another play on words with the store owners name this time - should in time calm down to something a bit less chaotic.
Just to send a little warning, this face wound and it's staples - called Shattered Existence from CURELESS & DISORDERLY in case you hadn't guessed - it takes a little bit of patience to get the staples fitted in the right place, not that that's the fault of the designers but more because SL faces vary so much in their shape, I really suggest you make a copy before you start pulling the staples around. That having been said, I REALLY REALLY love this scar and am sure I will be wearing it much more in future.
Along with her demonic eyes and Spiked Leather Collar - from AsteroidBox - the Dead Dolly look will be gracing the front page of my profile until the scars have healed... However long that may be!

Books containing Kittens!
Well Well Well, if it isn't the start of another new year, welcome everyone to 2017...
I know that I'm a day late with saying so but I've just gotten home from my little excursion to the woods and boy am I freaking tired LOL - aren't Holidays supposed to be a relaxing time?! Still, coming home again feels good and I guess that's what counts. I've missed things in my RL and in my SL - which it feels strange to admit that I felt like an addict without my drug whilst I was cut off from it - and cannot wait to kick start 2017 properly.
First though, as always with my first post of a new year, it's time for a little contemplation...
2016 was a bit of a crap year. OK I cannot totally complain, there were good things too but I found myself getting stressed and depressed, and it was a road that I was not happy finding myself upon. There were many reasons that I found myself in that mood, and I'm not going to go into the ins and outs of all the reasons, but I am going to have to do a mental re-shift to change things for the new year.
I've thought about making some Resolutions... There are things that I want to do but calling them by that title makes me feel they can be easily broken, yet in regards to my SL there are a few changes I will need to make this year... For example, when it comes to my blog I think I need to stop worrying so much about trying to please others. I started my blog and my quest to learn more about photography for my own personal entertainment - don't get me wrong I love the fact that people enjoy what I do - but sometimes I find myself worrying too much about getting likes in Flickr, or being turned down by potential Sponsors. I should count myself as lucky that I can already call myself a blogger for some of my favourite stores, and that people actually like what I do. This is something that's not just resigned for my blog, I tend to over-worry and over- think about a lot of things, and well, it's a big stress factor, this year it has got to change... It's time to start improving myself for me!
There are other things I'm doing in RL too. The usual things that are the Resolutions that seem to break easily, but right now I'm looking forward to this new year... Hopefully by this time next year I will be saying 2017 was a good year?!

A frosty walk for a New Year! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
Well I made it after a quick a change of trains to a lovely little holiday home in the woods that we rented for the New Year. Im still having to work, due to an overly self centered boss but that is a different story and not one that should be aired in a public place like this, so lucky you, you get to hear me rambling on a little more...
The cottage is lovely and the camping grounds are very pretty but this morning was the most gorgeous sight. There was a thick frost over everything and it looked like magic... I sat in the warming sun and watched it rise, but it was so worth it.
Rudh had a bit of a walk in the woods around where I am staying...
This is Hell's Heaven - which is funny considering that Hell is here with me in RL too lol - and she carried her lamp to light the way through the wintery woods. It's like a little slice of heaven in the woods at the moment, we can hear the loud fireworks from a distance but it's giving not only the dog but also me a peace of mind being further away from them. Rudh seems to be enjoying her walk too, walking her way towards the new year and promises of new things that will make everything seem brighter and more relaxed.
OK so she's not really dressed for a walk in a wintery woodland, but then she never really was one to dress properly. She's wearing a hat, but her head is about the only thing that gets warm. She's wearing a scarf, but then again that's not really keeping her that warm either, since she has wrapped her Vinyl scarf around her body like a top with just the smallest sweatshirt beneath, and a pair of cute, Distressed Jeans - from Petite Mort - which of course aren't helping to keep things warmer either lol,..
Because of my current location, and Rudh being indisposed in the wood, there will be no wild parties for Rudh this year. A quite relaxed affair, with a bowl of turkey soup and perhaps a bottle of wine while she watches the fireworks on television later... Who knows what 2017 will bring for her, and for the RL me too, but I know that tonight I'm going to raise a toast with a glass of wine and wish you all a wonderful New Year!!

This isn't the Arctic Express?!
Every year around this time, things in Holland start getting a little crazy. People start going firework mental - setting them off left, right and centre, even though it's the middle of the day and you cannot see them anyway... It's about this time of year that my dog changes from a happy and spoilt princess, into what can best be described as someone suffering with Parkinson's Disease. She shakes constantly and won't eat or even go into our back yard to pee, it's horrible to witness! So this yea, as with last year, HellBone and I are packing up and taking the dog and cat to a holiday house in the woods!
I'll still be able to write things but won't be in SL so it's going to be my last few hours in world this morning, and as I was packing Rudh up and bundling her into a train so she could head off for her vacation, the strangest thing happened... I think she's on the wrong train?!
Sitting down in the carriage she was joined by some rather interesting characters! Three Children, a Giant and one with an interesting hat made themselves comfortable and started talking about random things - one even brought a rat with him?!
The train itself is a DRD Arctic Express Carriage, that is whizzing along down the tracks and generally going a little faster than a Steam Engine should perhaps. These little characters are SO CUTE - and I say that as someone who really isn't interested in Harry Potter - when my RL sister saw them she went nutso... The Harry Potter based Bears are BoOgErS creations, which you can win yourself until December 31st at The Arcade...
But I really do think I'm on the wrong train, I shouldn't be going to Hogwarts... I wanted to go to the Woods?!

Santa's First Day Off!
Well that's it, it's actually done and dusted... The Christmas party is over and we're moving rapidly towards the start of a new year. Its'now that lovely quiet time between the festive days when you're able to sit back and digest, and to think about what it is that you've enjoyed.
For Santa I've often thought that today would a time when he'd just let go and party hard! He's worked hard, and he's only got another 363 days until his next big day... As I've grown older, the way he chooses to relax seems to have changed and this year the not-so-fat Santa has chosen to party hard with a pair of Ho-Hos...
By the way before anyone says anything, YES I KNOW that Ho-Hos are a cake, but aside from them tasting sweet the Ho-Hos that Santa is hanging out with are anything but cakey! Besides our Santa isn't exactly the typical fat man in a fluffy suit either... This Mr Claus is rather yummy. dressed in his Mr Sexy Santa Suit - from Crazy Kitty - and holding his fake beard in his hand, he's now finally taking some time out to sleep after his work night and day of partying is over... Looks like a great party was had, judging by all of the chaos around him and the Ho-Hos sprawled across his lap - using a sofa and pose from COME SOON called "Xmas Party" by the way!
I very much enjoyed being a Ho-Ho for this sexy Santa LOL... My sister Ho and I wore matching sweaters from epoch - which you can grab at Suicide Dollz until December 29th - and not much else besides some shiny red heels and some cute Christmassy Accessories!
We should leave Mr Claus in peace, I think he earnt it after the last few days, and it looks like his Ho-Hos may have totally worn him out... I do wonder what Mrs Claus will say to this though?!
