Ostara's Altar welcomes the Witches of Spring

To herald the start of Spring, the beautifully Spring themed events are starting and there is an abundance of all things pretty and spring-like pouring into the dark Wintery corners of Second Life. One of those, may or may not, have been called in by the witches of Second Life... It's the welcoming of Spring at the Gardens of Ostara's Altar... 

While I was playing with the goodies from Ostara's Altar, I found myself being drawn out into the mystical wilds of The Outer Garden to feel the nature of spring... 
Some how the magic took control of me and the Spring crept into my dark little dead doll heart... 
Briarflies - from The Stringer Mausoleum, in the form of the head decor and it's matching mouthie - and Apple Blossom - from Spyralle - magically decorated this Spring Witch!

Never lose the Magic

Perhaps it's time for a little more magic of The Witching Hour... Everyone needs a little magic in their life, no matter who you are, how old you are or even what you believe in... I personally feel that if you lose the magic, you should take a break and re-evaluate things!
Roald Dahl - one of my favourite authors no matter how old I am - once said;

"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."

Don't lose the magic... It will make life much, much, much less of a happy sparkly place!
I almost lost the magic of SL last week, for some reason - and I mentioned this before - I felt bleh with the whole thing... I took a few days away for myself and now I am ready to come back screaming and ready to shower myself in SL's magical sprinkles LOL...

So I ramble, but hey it's my blog you should expect that by now, but it helped that when I came back I could start again with a plan to work on creating some pretty looks for this month's round of The Witching Hour...
This is the second look that I have been able to pull out of a bag of magic tricks which features the items from TWH, but this one is actually a lot more involved in the event than the last which was just about the shoes hehe...
The outfit that I am wearing in this photograph is a dress called Familiar Bats - in a gorgeous blue tone that has been called Witches Glove - from the store that is ImmateriA. Along with the dress, the pendant necklace is also an ImmateriA release, the Bat Trinket Necklaces are matching colours for the dresses, and make the perfect accessories for that pretty outfit.
To go with that I chose a choker from Chop Shop...  For TWH this month, the creative minds behind Chop Shop have created a series of gorgeous Wire Bat Chokers... I LOVE THEM, they are so cute and absolutely gorgeous - a range of colours to match any outfit!
But whilst I was posing in that magical place that is The Witching Hour, something strange happened... My back began to itch just a little, a tickle at first, until I felt something shoot out of my back... I tried not to scream, but catching sight of myself in a resonating green stone, I discovered that horns had not only sprouted by grown long on either side of my spine! Rancor Back Horns - available from The Stringer Mausoleum machine - come in so many colours that it will be easy to accessorise your demonic looks. This is the common colour number 8 called Bloom, but there were so many different colour combinations, I cannot wait to see what other people choose!
So lesson for the day... NEVER LOSE THE MAGIC... Also go to The Witching Hour LOL...

The Orcs have shopping needs...

Tis that time again, The Witching Hour is upon us and we are ready to fill SL with a collection of the perfect goodies for those with the Witchy need! This round as always will run from the 13th - which this month just happened to be a Friday for the second month in a row - and will last a week... So it was the perfect excuse for a little Orc girl to come above ground and go shopping... After all who doesn't LOVE shopping!!! 

The Little Orc Girl has a strange skin tone for her race - a Foxy Fem colouring of the [Stargazer] race - her fiery eyes burning as she appears in the daylight. Her Spydra Horns - from The Stringer Mausoleum for this month's Witching Hour - and the Grave Keeper Satyr Horns - from BLD also at the Witching Hour begin to glisten in the morning light. The bone necklace around her neck was her only adornment on her scantily clad body. until she was done shopping. 
Shopping for gifts for her family and friends, her eyes caught sight of a beautiful necklace - and matching earrings -  the Angolan Witch Spider Necklace from the ImmateriA store. She couldn't resist the stunning spider webs that had been frozen in time, complete with it's inhabitant, and turned into jewellery for the discerning Orc!

Look into my Eyes...

I saw them and had to have them, then I saw the others and had to have those too... Never did I think I'd wear them together but when I was playing around with looks for them, they just seemed to work... Then as if by magic the rest of my accessories - and in fact entire look - just seemed to come together with a magical swoosh.
I love it when things like that happen, I don't know about you, but I can spend HOURS and HOURS looking through the warehouse that is my SL wardrobe wondering what to wear on any day. I've gotten lazy in my SL old age and, unlike when I was younger, I now save changing so it is less than a daily occurrence...
Though sometimes I get inspired when I buy things, I need to create something a little different, and that is just what happened here.. My love of playing Dress-Up took over, this was the result...

Somewhat Demonic I felt, but then at the same time, maybe more like a sprite than a demon... 
The whole look started with two very different pairs of horns... The first set I bought was the Horror's Dream set from The Horror - and available now at One Word - and I knew from the moment that I saw these posted on Flickr that I HAD to have them... Call it love at first sight LOL... The set includes a HUD for easy colouring of eyes and horns, but what I love about it most is the colours... The blue for example - as seen here - is almost peacock feather like with its barely there flicks of green and purple... The second set are all about opulence... They can be found at the current round of UBER - with a theme this month of luxuriousness - from the store [CerberusXing]. These were another love the moment I saw them, I knew I couldn't leave the event without a pair LOL... Best part of these gorgeous horns is that they can be worn with less chains and without the septum piercing, so they are fairly versatile! 
Once I had the horns in place, everything else was just so much fun to put together... I KNEW I couldn't look human with two sets of horns like this, so I just delved deep into the wardrobe and in the skins folder I found one of my favourite sets... The [Gauze] Amethysts sets were available at a long since past skin fair, but the jewelled tone complete with it's full body layer scale tattoo just seemed perfect for this look. The look seemed to be even more complete with the addition of some Mitosis Eyes from ellabella and a January bun that was a past group freebie from Truth, but there was still something missing, something that it lacked... Then I found the gorgeous Candy Crunchers Spider Crown, lord alone knows how long it has sat waiting to be discovered in my hoard, but isn't it pretty?! But yet, even with that, there was STILL something missing... "Make-Up perhaps?" I found myself thinking... Low and behold, as soon as I tried this glitter effect - Spangle Me - eyeshadow from The Stringer Mausoleum, that was it... It was perfect... 
The photo I shot turned out even better than I had expected it too... This is definitely one of my favourite pictures of the year so far, but don't take my word for it, what do you think?

Horror Haute Fades for October...

Horror Haute is slowly beginning to fade into the setting Autumn sun for October... Friday brings the most exciting day of the dead for the year, but it also sees the doors close on the coffins of the Horror Haute Vampires... 
I wanted to make one last salute to the blood drinkers, and another nod in the direction of the awesome and creative designers that offer up their horrific goods every month! 

As you can see, I took the sulty, and classic, route for my last trip into Vampire land... Being honest it's not somewhere that Zombie me feels really comfortable. I mean I KNOW they are undead too but they drink blood while their dinner is still alive... Least we mutilate ours to death first LOL... 
I took a walk to the Horror Haute Skybox, where you can pick up all of these horrific goodies, and bumped into a friend. He told me to tell Anna and Themis that his arms are getting tired as the pumpkin is heavy LOL... 
Though he did compliment me on my dress... The Sanguisuga Dress - from ImmateriA - is very striking... Being honest, not something that I might have chosen to buy if I saw it on the shelf. At first glance it seemed like there was too much going on, but when I really looked at it, it just seemed too beautiful not to at least play with a little... I AM SO GLAD I DID! I love the ruffled flamenco skirt, and as it's separate from the top, I will admit that I've been wearing it with a simple top too! 
There is also call for a close up today too, because I need to show off the skin and make-up a little more clearly... 

There we are, much easier to see hehe... 
I wanted a skin that seemed a little more Vampire, and a lot less my usual lol, and I got very lucky as Stargazer Creations had sent me a copy of their Horror Haute Vampire Skin Set! So many different make up choices, with and without cleavage and bloody mouths for the messy eaters lol... The eyes are also part of the set, so it is definitely well worth checking into! 
I felt though, that it was missing something... What I didn't know, but definitely SOMETHING! Helena Stringer - of The Stringer Mausoleum - proved to have that something I needed! She created the striking eye make-up I put on. Called Night Queen, it comes in a set of 9 bright colours, that will wake up any face in the dark of the night! 
One more thing to say... That's all folks... No more Horror Haute from me until next month! You don't need to wait long, it runs the last week of the month and ooooh it's going to be a good theme... Think colours, think dead things, think RAINBOWIFYING RUDH!!! YAY!

The Witching Hour is upon us...

I have mentioned in the past about an event called The Witching Hour, but I haven't really focused on it too much until recently. Created by the same team that run Horror Haute, this event is a monthly Gacha affair, with a number of designers setting items into the seductive gacha machines...
I am both addicted to, and perturbed by, gacha machines, especially when I want something specific from the contents...
One of the Witching Hour designers, sent a photo through group of bloggers and asked us to contact her for reviews - fair enough as it means coverage will happen! - and when I opened the picture I was like "I NEED TO PLAY IN THAT OUTFIT!!!" Luckily she agreed to let me have one LOL, and so play I did!!!

The Sorceress Gown and Staff in this bright citrine colour are one of a set of colours that you can win from the Stargazer Creations gacha. The Dress is ultra rare and the Staff rare, but the colours of these items are all so gorgeous you will be making grabby hands just to get them!
Of course there are other awesome things to grab at the Witching Hour this month too... These AMAZINGLY EPIC horns from The Stringer Mausoleum are a good example of that, as well as the Self Stirring Cauldron from Brick-a-Brack.
I also wanted to include a close-up look at the outfit, purely because of the choker that you cannot see in the main photo... This is part of a gorgeous set called Magick from Cyrious, which you could also win yourself at the Witching Hour!
I then took the opportunity to introduce you to one of my new little friends!! MishMish is involved in a soon to start - on October 15th to be exact - event called Trunk and Treat, for this event they've created some adorable little Candlelish friends, that can either hover along with you, be carried and will even follow you!
