Welcome to the Family!

**WARNING RL CONTENT** LOL
It's not very often that I get the urge to write a post solely about RL, sometimes it crops up randomly when I am talking about a SL related point, yet as this is RL and RL alone, I thought I better give warning, lol.
I don't know if anyone will remember, but back on the 11th April I posted about the sad loss of Hell and my RL doggie Biko. It was a sad time for us both, she'd had cancer and eventually she just couldn't take the struggle anymore. It makes me sad thinking about it even now, she was my first taste of being a dog owner and she was totally and utterly awesome! Yet it has been about 6 months now, and we have decided to become dog owners once again!!! Let me introduce you to our soon to be home puppy, IZZY!
The adoption of Izzy is a little complicated however, and we probably won't be getting her to live with us for a while! Time to explain... My sister Sophie, aka Titiania in SL, works at a Greyhound rescue center in England, this place takes Greyhounds, Lurchers and Whippets, many of which have been used as Race Dogs, and many of which have come to the end of their use and are just deposited with the charity. The Kennels are supposed to have a maximum of 25 dogs in at a time, yet recently there was a drugs raid on a local racer/breeder and when his operation was closed by the police he locked in all dogs, and abandoned them, the charity went in to rescue and ended up doubling their maximum capacity. Luckily some of the dogs have been taken to new racer families, that have been thoroughly checked out of course. We were told of a young mum who had been brought into the center, not related to the rescue yet still a dog in need, but Bonnie (the mum) gave birth to a litter of 8 healthy puppies on August 18th, at EXACTLY the same time as Hell and I started to discuss the idea of having a new dog, and although happy it was also even more strain on an already overstretched kennels. It was like fate, we wanted a female puppy. Hell had wanted another rottweiler, but to me that was just too much like a Biko replacement, and when my sister mentioned these puppies, I became very emotional. I know that there are dog charities closer to home, and that we could adopt from Amsterdam, but this Charity hits kinda close to home what with my sister being staff. The racing community didn't want these puppies as they aren't purebreds, Izzy is a Lurcher/Saluki/Collie cross, but I was more than willing to take her home. I know she is in good hands as she is spending her very young life being cared for by Aunty Sophie, and although we can't take her till she is about 6 months due to all the things that need to be done for travelling with an animal, the time line is pretty perfect for us... I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!!
Just for interests sake, if you wanted to have a look at the charity, there is a website, there are also pictures of the conditions these dogs were left in and I warn you it's HORRIBLE... I just can't stand stories of people treating animals like this, you wouldn't do it to a child, or maybe the people that can do this would?

  1. Aww cute puppy! Sad you can't get her yet and about the abuse some animals endure. I'm sure she will be very loved in her new home.

  3. It might not be very original, but AWWWWW really is the first thing that comes to mind. What an adorable little bundle of fur!
It's a pity it will take so long to get her home, but for such a cute puppy I would be willing to wait too.
